Kyler and Meaghan met at a recurring game night at H2O. He had just moved to Orlando and was looking to meet people, and Meaghan helped organize the game nights so she wanted to be hospitable. They would see each other weekly at church and at mutual friends’ parties, which meant they frequently talked. And talked. Eventually they would stand in the church parking lot hours after everyone else went home, just wrapped up in discussions about Jesus, life, and what the exact shade of salmon looks like (we won’t tell you who is right here but I think we know the answer). After-church conversations became casual dinners and movie nights and, without shocking a single person, grew into more. And the rest—they say—is history.
Kyler called Meaghan on New Year’s Eve and asked if she could be ready much earlier than their dinner reservation for “time sensitive plans.” When he picked her up, he claimed to have forgotten something at the church that he needed to grab. She elected not to tease him about the “time sensitive plans” because she had a strong idea of what was happening. Once at the church, he invited her in to help with something. She walked into the room with rose petals covering the floor, candles everywhere, her favorite songs playing, and some important books on a table. It was beautiful and so overwhelming, and once he got down on one knee to ask The Question, she said, “Of course it’s a yes!” And it’s been a yes everyday since.
