Favorite Dating Stories

MC: The Rangers World Series run will forever hold a special place in my heart, we started dating during the playoffs and as a superstitious sports fan myself, I couldn't believe this guy wanted to watch them play on our second date...and then he went and bought us tickets to Game 2. We were better luck watching them on TV than we were at the game though, and we would later stay up on the phone until after 2am the night they won. T: I think some of my favorite “dates” would be the ones we didn’t plan. Like walking to Joe Leo’s to sit in an empty restaurant and have tacos and beers on a random weeknight, grabbing pizza and old fashioneds from Sfuzzi (RIP), and of course, strolling over to Mayers for nugs on Sunday mornings. MC: Right after I moved and I wasn't really sure what to do with myself in the burbs, I would make plans back in Dallas to hang out with the girls or patiently wait on an invite from Tobin to come hang out with him and the kids. I'd only been recently introduced to them and he invited me over for my first Pizza/Movie night, but instead of a movie this particular Friday, we watched Mavs & Stars playoff games between the two main TVs. Elizabeth and Hayes were drawing at the table and I joined in coloring until I acted like they could freeze me when I wore a certain headband. They took turns putting my arms and legs in all sorts of contorted directions. We got so tickled, Tobin would come in and monitor, then he would chase them back and forth, either tickling or starting snowball fights and I just remember laughing so hard it hurt. T: Also less of a single date story: Meag is the queen of no reservations dinners (which gives me anxiety). On more than one occasion it always started with “well let’s see if we can get a seat at the bar” of a restaurant where you 100% needed a res just to get in. I’ve now become an expert at hawking bar sitters and determining which one is about to close their tab. MC: If we're sharing general dating favorites, mine would have to be playing cards together. When I moved closer, we didn't have to spend hours on the phone after the kids went to bed anymore, so Tobin taught me Mexican Train & I taught him how to play Rummy. Cards quickly became our new way to spend time talking the way we did on the phone early on. We’ve played Rummy or Gin Rummy from Denver to Orlando and our score count is past the point of totaling by now, but I think I'm up a hand or two.
