Wedding Party

Whitney Wells

Matron of Honor

Emily and Whitney met at freshman orientation at the University of Kansas and have been best friends ever since. Through many choir performances, trips, and adventures as roommates, they are sure to be life long friends.

Andrew Mcginnis

Best Man

Andrew and Roy met at an Applebees and the rest truly is history. From jam sessions at the coffeehouse, to their band Defiance Street Alliance, to fierce basketball duels (Roy normally won), Andrew has been as good of a pal as a guy can get.

Ellie Augustine

Maid of Honor

Emily and Ellie met on the St. Lawrence Koinonia retreat in 2016 when St. Therese of Liseux brought them together. Their friendship flourished as they became running partners and shared a love for gluten free cooking. Through several trips to Colorado through the Institute for Faith and Culture, a pilgrimage to Rome, countless times of attending daily mass together, and a shared devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and many other saints, God made these best friends closer than ever.

Matt Mindrup

Groomsman

Before Matt and Roy began hanging out as friends in High School, they shared a touching moment in Elementary school on the playground. Roy found Matt at the swing set in intense anguish due to his friends being deadlocked in a fight. We quickly formulated a plan to mitigate tensions in his friends group and restore peace to the 2nd grade class. Aside from their work as adolescent activists, Matt and Roy spent many nights raiding the ever present chips and salsa from his parent's cupboard, only to fall asleep at 11 to some Netflix.

Jordan Schartz

Bridesmaid

Emily and Jordan met through the St. Lawrence center. They became fast friends as they sat together at daily mass, attended many of the same bible studies, drank lots of coffee together, and shared a devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Michael Schulte

Groomsman

Michael is Roy's oldest friend, going all the way back to pre-school. A friendship that budded from their shared love of Roy's mom's peanut butter toast has stayed constant throughout the years. Roy's favorite experience with Michael was the time they snuck 6 beers into Star Wars: The Force Awakens in the waistline of their sweat pants

Sophie Khadivi

Bridesmaid

Emily and Sophie met on the St. Lawrence Koinonia retreat and were in the same small group. They sat next to each other at daily mass, participated in many of the same campus ministry events and bible studies, and spent lots of time together throughout college. They also share a devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Adam Schibi

Groomsman

Roy's first encounter with Adam came in grade school when he found him eating a Peanut Butter and Cheese sandwich. It's a good thing that Roy isn't quick to judge, because Adam has been an incredible friend to this day. Roy appreciates both how tall Adam is and his incredible work ethic, and often aspires to reach both of those heights. Adam still puts Peanut Butter on things it doesn't go with and the jury is still out on Roy's vertical growth.

Emma Finder

Bridesmaid

Emily was introduced to Emma through a mutual friend when Emma transferred to the University of Kansas. Emma and Emily, both Music Therapy majors, quickly became inseparable. Emma joined the Praise and Worship band at the St. Lawrence Center with Emily and Roy and has shared many laughs with the two of them. Emily and Emma often engage in long conversations about the Catholic Church & Music Therapy ethics & research. They are two peas in a pod and forever friends!

Randall Himes

Groomsman

Roy and Randall met at KU while they were both pursuing degrees in music. The defining moment of their friendship was when they decided to attempt to eat two Chipotle bowls in one sitting while working in the Band Office. They eventually became roommates for one year, which is when Randall realized Roy's main goal was to evangelize him into a Chiefs fan. Roy succeeded.

Anne DeLong

Bridesmaid

Emily and Anne became friends in the 6th grade at Monte Cassino School. Sharing many similar friends in "The Nerd Herd," taking weekend mom/daughter trips to Kansas City, fishing and tubing at Grand Lake, participating in musicals & jazz choir at Bishop Kelley High School, Anne and Emily experienced the prime years of adolescence together. They still remain best friends today and think fondly on their goofy childhood memories.

Aaron Moore

Groomsman

Aaron and Roy have been friends since Middle School and were roommates for 3 years at KU. Roy's favorite memories with Aaron were the countless nights having fierce NBA 2K battles while feasting on a seemingly endless supply of Totinos party pizzas.

Katie Carley

Bridesmaid

Emily and Katie became friends through a freshman bible study at the University of Kansas. They didn't become close until they decided to lead a bible study together the next year! Through leading bible study and the help of St. Therese of Liseux, Katie and Emily discovered their numerous similarities. Even though Katie transferred to Witicha State University, Katie and Emily have remained as close as can be!

Michael Johnson

Groomsman

Roy and Michael met at KU through the musical fraternity Phi Mu Alpha when he was Roy's "big". They became quick friends through their shared love of coffee and would meet weekly at Alchemy Coffee in Lawrence. Roy has always looked up to Michael, even though he consistently pronounces the word homage wrong and refuses to get an iPhone. Roy also feels eternally indebted to Michael for helping him crush the competition in College Algebra.

Becca Gray

Bridesmaid

Emily and Becca met through the School of Music at the University of Kansas. They also attended many events together at the St. Lawrence Center as they pushed each other in their faith. Although Becca resides in Seattle, WA, she and Emily have maintained their close friendship over several years.

Logan Hotz

Groomsman

Roy and Logan met at KU when Roy was Logan's "big" in Phi Mu Alpha. Their friendship grew quickly through their similar music interests and humor. Throughout their time at KU, these two loved going on adventures to find new coffee shops and the best charcuterie boards this world has to offer. Roy is often fascinated by Logan's work as an economist at the KC Federal Reserve and is immensely proud of his groundbreaking research into the advanced applications of PEMDAS and Venn Diagrams.

Maura Williams

Bridesmaid

Emily met Maura while living in Fort Collins, CO during her music therapy internship. Maura made an effort to get to know Emily better over coffee and a trip to the farmer's market. If you know Emily, you know those are some of her favorite things! Maura became Emily's best friend in Colorado. Emily thinks fondly of many hikes, brewery Sundays, heart talks over charcuterie boards, laughs, and Colorado adventures. Emily and Maura still keep in touch regularly and plan on being lifelong friends!

Tom Florent

Groomsman

Roy and Tom met at KU through Phi Mu Alpha where they were both on the education team. This shared role came with extensive collaboration that aided them in becoming close friends. Roy always appreciates Tom's difference in perspective on numerous topics, which has led to some incredible conversations over a nice glass of Jameson, the superior Catholic whisky. Tom is a character that you can't help but love, and while his opinions on St. Louis BBQ vs. KC BBQ are inherently flawed and extensively disproven through science, Roy intends on keeping him around as one of his best pals.

Rachel Heitmann

Bridesmaid In Absentia

Emily and Rachel met through the St. Lawrence Center at the University of Kansas. Through many runs, discipleship meet ups, cups of coffee shared, phone calls, hugs, and letters, their friendship flourished. Like Emily, Rachel also has a devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Because Rachel is currently discerning with the Sisters of Life in Bronx, NY, and is unable to take leave, she will be with us in prayer and in spirit at the wedding.

Charlie Schmeidler

Groomsman In Absentia

When asked to comment on his excitement for Roy and Emily to get married, Charlie chuckled saying, "I suppose another person to feed me is never a bad thing."
