The year was 2017. Kelli O'Donnell had gone on numerous dates with "men" in NYC who just could not stop talking about themselves. This was getting old. The process went something like this....Swipe right. Give em a shot. Expend energy listening intently. Barely get in a word. Cross them off the list before dinner even arrives. Move on to the next one. Just as Kelli was about to take a sabbatical from dating until further notice, she decided to give it one last shot.... Meanwhile, 30 miles away, James McWilliams was considering a move to Nashville, TN. That is, until he consulted with Pastor Mike Reed (the officiant), where Mike helped him ask the right questions to himself about the move, which led to James staying in NY. This all happened only 2 months before he met Kelli! Phew, thanks Mike. Enter Coffee Meets Bagel. A more serious dating app. With just the right algorithm, James was determined to find the few single, Christian girls in NY. Turns out while Kelli was searching for months on the app for her Mr. Right, the first girl James matched with was Kelli (This still frustrates Kelli to this day. Some people have it so easy). Coffee in NYC? The minute James laid eyes on Kelli as she came around the corner to Gregory's Coffee Shop, his eyes lit up as her radiating smile reverberated off every glass window in midtown Manhattan (dramatic, we know). But he knew this girl was different...right from the moment she chastised him for adding cream to his black coffee. You bet he drinks it black now. They hit it off from the first moment, and later that night, James summed up the date to his parents by leaning on the door and saying, "Wow, I had an amazing time." The rest is history. Kelli and James have already had their fair share of incredible times and difficult times together, but Christ sustains them in both. He is their identity. He is the solid rock that never changes. Now it's time to celebrate what Christ has brought together through holy matrimony.
