We had the great luck of living in walking distance to these trails. If you come to Santa Fe, and you want a view...Dale Ball is one way to get it.
...but Picacho is better!
The Canyon Road walk is totally worth an afternoon, if you can swing it. Tony daylights at McLarry Fine Art, Caitlin and Tony used to work at Meyer Gallery (both in the same complex at 225). Visit them both. At McLarry, check out works by Peter Hagen. At Meyer, look for Fatima Ronquillo, Robert LaDuke, Natalie Featherston, David Dornan, and Milt Kobayashi. We HIGHLY recommend the following galleries: *NuArt (tell them Caitlin from the Santa Fe Institute sent you, we're currently showcasing works by Michael Bergt and Juan Kelly) *Giaccobbe-Fritz, who shows a lot of wonderful art, but most especially our very favorite, Melinda K. Hall. SHE WILL MAKE YOU SMILE!! *Go to GF Contemporary to see their sister gallery, which houses work by Clayton Porter and Pascal. *Definitely stop into the Larson gallery, and say hi to David Vigil. You won't regret it.
Literally where we fell in love. Don't look past this little gem, we couldn't recommend it more highly. THIS IS OUR NUMBER ONE (though their sister restaurant, LA CHOZA, has really grown on us, as of late). Trust us, get the Don de Oro Margarita, and Green Chile Turkey Sausage Enchiladas, with green chile. Feeling fancy - add an over-easy egg! We hope you like it hot!!
You're about 1.5 hours away from Taos, NM – our favorite little getaway. If you have the time, we recommend you drive up 68 past the Rio Grande River, and visit the Gorge. Head to the Alley Cantina for karaoke, and the Love Apple for a romantic dinner
Chicken Wings and Margaritas (served straight up!)
Get a Cappuccino. Get a scrunchy, too. It's a pillar in the city, support them! BUY THE SCRUNCHY
Doodlet's for the silly shits
Delicious, Prohibition era cocktails, with live jazz after 9 pm.
It's one of the most unique things to experience almost anywhere...but it happens to be in Santa Fe
It takes some hunting, but this is THE place to purchase any vintage Southwest *insert whatever it is you hope to take back from this lovely little pueblo here.* They have a vintage designer shop for you fashionistas in our wedding group (Encore). An entire section for all things southwest (The Ranch). A rather large, and ALWAYS surprising and worthy 'regular old thrift section' (the Store), and art, antiques, furniture and the rest upstairs (Name unknown. Full disclosure, this is a Caitlin suggestion, and she spends all of her time downstairs, at Encore, The Ranch, and The store. She finds the best S**t there!)
Our very favorite Museum in town. Currently, they're showing works that she painted when she was living in New York City with her husband. *trivia* – what's his name!?!?
If you find yourself without reading materials.
GAMBLE! Our wedding venue is right behind the Buffalo Thunder Casino. In fact, there might be a free shuttle to and from the venue...and once you're there, you can enjoy free shuttle service to and from Santa Fe. Place a bet for the betrothed!!
