Julia and Matt first met in 2016 as undergraduates working in the same research lab at the University of Scranton. At first, it was just shared work, long hours in the lab, and late-night study sessions with lots of coffee. But over time, those moments turned into something deeper. They discovered how easy it was to talk to each other, how well they worked together, and how much they made each other laugh. By April 2018, it was clear this was more than friendship — and they have been inseparable ever since. College gave them so many adventures: hiking to waterfalls, collecting ants in Florida for their research (yes, really!), and exploring different coffee shops around town. Through it all, they learned how to support each other — not just as students, but as partners. When Matt graduated in 2019 and moved to Ithaca to pursue his PhD at Cornell University, they began a long-distance phase of their relationship. It wasn’t always easy, but it taught them how to stay connected across the miles — through weekend visits, daily FaceTime calls, and unwavering commitment. Julia graduated in 2020 and began medical school at LECOM in Erie, PA — adding two more years of long distance. Yet even with the demands of grad school and medical school, their love continued to grow. They learned to communicate with patience, to show up for each other even from afar, and to cherish every moment they got to spend together. In 2022, they finally closed the distance and moved in together in Elmira, NY, as Julia started her clinical rotations nearby. After years of waiting, being together felt like the start of something even more meaningful. Those two years in the Finger Lakes were full of joy and quiet moments — from hiking trails to winery visits in Watkins Glen, glassblowing demos at the Corning Museum of Glass, and cozy dinners at their favorite spot, Hand + Foot. It was in downtown Corning, surrounded by both of their families and closest friends, that Matt proposed to Julia in May 2023 — in the town that had come to mean so much to them. In 2024, they took the next big step: moving to Delaware as Julia graduated from medical school and started her psychiatry residency at ChristianaCare. They’ve made a home together, complete with a sassy and spoiled calico cat named Millie. Matt also completed his PhD and began a postdoctoral position at Rutgers, and together, they’ve entered a new chapter filled with excitement, growth, and the same deep love that has carried them through every stage of their journey. As their wedding day approaches and they reflect on their journey, they’re grateful for every challenge, every adventure, and every late-night FaceTime call that brought them closer. They’ve grown up together, supported each other’s dreams, and built a life they’re proud of. Now, they can’t wait to celebrate their wedding — and this next chapter — with all of you!
