In summer of 2020, I decided to go on a spur of the moment trip with a friend to Huntsville, AL. Before this trip, my friend had introduced me to John Melville and I jokingly asked him if he had any single friends. He showed me a picture of Clay and I immediately thought he was cute. When I visited Huntsville, John introduced us and we quickly hit it off - (Shoutout John!) I didn't really believe in love at first sight, but here we are!!!

It was the week of my birthday and we were headed to Huntsville for Clay's sister's baptism and Clay's nephews 1st birthday. The thought NEVER crossed my mind that I would be getting engaged this same weekend because we were going to be soooo busy (smart planning there Clay). Clay and I decided to go up to dinner at The Ledges on Friday evening to celebrate my birthday and I was told there would be a wine tasting as well-I was pumped! Bri and Blake were supposed to join us for dinner as well (another great cover up by Clay). When Clay drove right past the clubhouse where we were supposed to eat, I STILL didn't think anything of it until he randomly stopped the car in the middle of the road. This is where it gets good. Me: "What are you doing?" Clay: *No response* Me: "What's going on?" Clay: *No response, exits the car* Me: "WHAT IS GOING ON" I jumped out of the car and Clay took my hand and said "Well I haven't really planned what I want to say, so I'm just going to wing it." And it finally hits me as to what's going on. Queue the tears. We shared the sweetest moment just us, followed by an awesome dinner that I didn't eat a bite of because I couldn't stop crying and then an evening with all my friends and family (another incredible surprise). The day couldn't have been better.
