In early May of 2022, hopped up on post-surgery drugs after getting her gallbladder removed, Alissa was browsing her prospects on Bumble. Eventually she came across McKayla's profile and nearly swiped left because she thought McKayla seemed "too perfect." Luckily, she shot her shot. Meanwhile, fresh out of the closet, McKayla was drawn in by a picture of Alissa plant shopping and swiped right. McKayla was feeling particularly bold when she saw "It's a Match!" Before Alissa had the chance to say anything, McKayla made the first move. "Where we going on our date?" Were either of us looking for love? No, but we found it. The day after our first date to Twisted Ranch, Alissa returned to McKayla's place and basically never left. One week in, we were exclusive. Two months in, Alissa said the first "I love you," and McKayla's fur babies got new siblings in the form of Alissa's plant babies. Three months in McKayla gave Alissa a promise ring. Four months in, we opened a joint checking account and bought a mattress. The week of our nine-month anniversary, Alissa surprised McKayla with a proposal on a weeknight after a 13-hour workday under the guise of an early Valentine's Day gift exchange. After the presentation of an adorably gay card, Alissa asked McKayla to close her eyes. She opened them to find Alissa with one knee on the living room floor and a ring. All Alissa said was, "Let's do it."
