Flight
This is the best place to fly into. A 20-40 minute drive from here to our house (highly dependent on rush hour traffic. Lyft and Uber also work well, though they require a 5 minute walk from the arrivals terminal. Budget $25 each direction to and from the airport. If you arrive during daylight hours, MARTA is the public transit service. David rides this to and from work once a week. Take any train from the airport (all northbound) and get off at Five Points. Then ride the Blue Line eastbound towards Indian Creek. The East Lake station is a 10 minute walk from our house. The Courtyard by Marriott in Decatur is a 5 minute walk from the Decatur station. From the airport to our house or Decatur, it usually takes David an hour. Like any public transit system, it's not always a seamless experience.
Travel Note
We are still in the planning phase of transportation. But don't worry, we'll handle the day-of details. Expect a combination of personal vehicles, rental vehicles, and prepaid Uber service will get you where you need to be.
Hotel
The Courtyard by Marriott in Decatur is probably your easiest no-hassle option. Endless food and amenities are right out the front door. It is less than a 10 minute drive to all venues. If you are interested ask for the McGrath/Enloe wedding rate (I believe $172)!
House Or Rental
There are amazing options all around the city. We live in Lake Claire, but you will love any neighborhood that you pick. Our favorites nearby are Candler Park, Inman Park, Cabbagetown, Virginia Highlands, and Decatur.
Hotel
The University Inn at Emory seems to get solid reviews, though we've never stayed there, and it's relatively close. More college-campus feel. 15 minutes away.
Hotel
The Highland Inn and Ballroom could be fun for someone looking for something different. It is in a great location with lots within walking distance. We don't know much about it, but it gets great reviews! 15 minutes away.
Hotel
Sugar Magnolia B & B is in a favorite location near Krog Street Market and also the Atlanta Belt Line-- lots of shops and food options. It's a quaint neighborhood very close to Inman Park, where Megan used to live. Again, great reviews, but we don't have any inside information. 15 minutes away.
