There is so much good hiking in Durango. Here is a list of trails for those interested. (The AllTrails app has some good recommendations as well). Engineer Mountain trail is probably our favorite. It might be a little early to see the wild flowers but the views are great. It is about 2 miles to the summit of Engineer Mountain and if you feel up for it, you can climb up to the peak! This trail is moderate-to-hard so please make sure you stay hydrated and carry enough water. If you are looking for an easier hike-we would suggest Junction Creek Trail or the Animas River trail
Molas Lake will always have a special place in our hearts. It is one of our first stops when exploring the area for the first time and where we took our engagement photos! Please check it out if you have time and don't mind the drive. It is probably an hour outside of Durango. Walk around the lake, go kayaking, or fishing! Make sure to stop and grab a burger from James Ranch on your way back into town.
Mesa Verde National Park’s cliff dwellings are just one wonder to be found at this national park in Colorado, which also includes protected wilderness.
