Sydney and Joey’s story begins as many modern love stories do… Hinge. Sydney moved to Denver in 2021, looking to start fresh in a new city after college, and Joey had just graduated from CU Boulder and moved into the city. After swiping, matching, chatting, and a little bit of slightly threatening encouragement from Sydney, Joey asked her to go out for dinner and drinks. What they both thought would be another first date to laugh about later on turned out to be the start of a wonderfully undeniable connection between the two. They quickly became each other's best friend and favorite companions. Since that first night, they've spent their time growing together through travel, adventures to the mountains, and they even survived Joey teaching Sydney how to ski! They are so excited about the life they are building together and can't wait to share just how special their love feels with everyone on their wedding day.

Joey proposed on July 8, 2024, after the pair had spent the weekend camping in Twin Lakes. While attempting Sydney's first-ever 14er, Mount Huron, Joey found the perfect spot to pop the question! Joey even hired an adventurous photographer to beat us up the mountain to capture the moment! (Thank you, Mountain Marta Photography!) Although they were both dead tired from little sleep and hiking since 5 am, it couldn't have been a more magical moment! After the hike back down, they headed straight back to Denver, where Joey's parents and sister, and Sydney's mom were all waiting at one of their favorite restaurants to surprise them with a celebration. It was an unforgettable day spent doing some of their favorite things.
