We met in 2007 at Fayetteville State University (Go Broncos!). After hours-long daily conversations, we became fast friends and then thought "hmm, maybe there's something more". We shared our first kiss and felt that spark! After undergrad, we lost contact and later reconnected in December 2019. He officially asked to "go steady" on January 18, 2020, and we've been steadily rocking since then.

We invited family and friends to our housewarming party in July. Music is playing, food is grilling, and drinks are cold. As the party is underway, we're ushered into the house to prepare to bless the food, and James shouts "Hey B, c'mon! Our song is playing". As I enter the home, I hear our song: As by Stevie Wonder, so I turn the corner, and I see him on bent knee with a ring. Tears are flowing, he makes his proclamation and asks "Will you marry me?". I respond with a resounding "yes!". I later find out, to my surprise, everyone knew of this plan since early 2021 and kept it a secret from me. Best kept secret ever!
