Brian and Katy first met when they matched on Tinder in 2017! At the time, Katy was a sophomore at Syracuse University and Brian was living and working back home in Rutland, Vermont. After chatting online for a few weeks, they finally met in person on Katy's spring break to see the movie "Going in Style." Once Katy finished school for the year and came home to Vermont for the summer to work, she and Brian became inseparable, and they have been that way ever since.

In the spring of 2021, Brian and Katy went on vacation together to Bar Harbor, Maine. Little did Katy know, but her engagement ring had been tucked under the front seat of Brian's truck for months! Despite a couple of very close calls, Brian pulled off a surprise sunrise proposal at Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park (the very first place the sun rises in the United States each day).
