FAQs

The Wedding Website of Kate McBride and Dustin Shafer
We know there can sometimes be a lot of questions, so we hope we can answer some of those for you below!
Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Formal attire with a garden party feel. We recommend floor-length gowns or elevated cocktail dresses for women, and suits or tuxedos for men. Think romantic, seasonal, and a little bit whimsical—whether you lean toward bold colors or timeless neutrals, make it your own. The ceremony will take place outdoors (weather permitting), and the reception will be held under a tent. Please plan your footwear accordingly—heels may sink, so consider block heels, wedges, or something grass-friendly. We also suggest bringing a layer in case it gets chilly in the evening.

Question

When should we arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

4:30 PM Our planning team will connect with you to confirm shuttle pickup times. Kindly include your accommodations when RSVPing so everything flows smoothly.

Question

I am flying into town, what's the closest airport?

Answer

The closest airports are Stewart International Airport and Albany International Airport, though all major NYC airports are also within driving distance. The Catskills are best experienced by car. Winding roads lead to hidden creeks, roadside waterfalls, scenic overlooks, and all kinds of quiet magic you’d never find otherwise. Renting a car will give you the freedom to explore and stumble upon some truly special places just by driving around. If you must use public transportation, you can take Metro-North Railroad on the Hudson Line to Poughkeepsie, then continue on by taxi or local transit toward the Kingston area. Please note that Ubers and ride shares are very limited in the Catskills, especially at night. Planning ahead will make your experience much smoother.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

If you navigate over to the "Where To Stay" page, we have tons of local accommodations listed on there!

Question

Will there be parking available?

Answer

Foxfire Mountain House has very limited parking, which will be reserved for overnight guests and ADA accessibility only. For all other guests, we’ll be providing shuttle service to and from the venue. Shuttles will run on a loop before and after the celebration, so getting there (and home) will be easy and stress-free. Pickup locations and timing will be shared closer to the date—stay tuned!

Question

What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies?

Answer

Please let us know via the formal invitations if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies and we will do our best to accommodate.

Question

How do I RSVP?

Answer

There will be formal invitations sent out, please RSVP via the invitation.

Question

Can I take photos during the ceremony?

Answer

Although we love getting our pictures taken, there is going to be a professional team taking care of that for us. We'd rather you be in the moment with us, so please, we ask you keep the phones away.

Question

What should I bring to the wedding?

Answer

We plan on dancing under the stars and celebrating well into the night—so if you plan to join us on the dance floor (and we hope you do!), feel free to bring a pair of comfy shoes to change into. Think chic but practical—because blistered feet shouldn’t be part of the memories. A light layer for the evening chill wouldn’t hurt either, especially once the sun dips behind the mountains.
