Question

I'm in California and Madison is looking awfully chilly and far away, will there be other opportunities to celebrate with you all?

Answer

Yes! We know Madison is not the easiest place to get to for our California family and friends and while we would love to see you in October, we completely understand if you are unable to make it. Be on the lookout for a California reception in spring of 2025.

Question

What will the weather be like in mid-October?

Answer

We will be right in peak fall! Autumn colors will be plentiful and the weather should be crisp but not too cold (sorry California guests, this weather does qualify as "cold"). Expect daytime high overcast or sunshine with temperatures in the mid 60's and nights in the low 40's and upper 30's.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Dress for the ceremony and reception is cocktail attire. For the ladies, think midi or knee-length dresses or skirts, dress pants and blouses, or jumpsuits and for the gentlemen, think darker suits or dark blazers and slacks. We would recommend planning layers as the weather could be on the chilly side. Our reception will be indoors with outdoor space available depending on weather. For the rehearsal dinner, dress is business casual, think slacks and button downs for the gentlemen and dresses for ladies.

Question

Can I bring my children?

Answer

Yes! Children are welcome.

Question

What is the driving and parking situation at the church and reception venue?

Answer

While St. Andrews is close to Camp Randall stadium, UW football is playing away that week so parking should not be too chaotic. The church has free street parking and you can usually find spots within a block or two. The reception venue has its own parking lot with plenty of parking. If parking and getting to the reception is a concern, we would recommend driving to the monastery first and carpooling to the ceremony if possible.

Question

How far apart are the ceremony and reception?

Answer

St. Andrews is a 17 minute drive from Holy Wisdom Monastary.

Question

Any recommendations for places to eat or get a cup of coffee while we're in town?

Answer

Madison has A LOT of great options for food, drinks, coffee, and just about anything else you could want food-wise. Check out our Things to Do section of the website for some of our favorites.

Question

Was it difficult to keep Tim from filling the registry with bike stuff?

Answer

After some negotiation, we decided that 5 bikes in the spare bedroom and a closet full of parts was enough.
