Travel

The Wedding Website of Coretta Almon and Kevin McAllister
We recommend staying in downtown Detroit to fully enjoy the city’s walkability, riverfront views, restaurants, and cultural landmarks. Downtown Detroit is compact and highly walkable. Guests staying within the downtown core or Midtown will be within close proximity to dining, cultural institutions, the riverfront, and the Whittier is just minutes away. Below are a few thoughtfully selected options for your stay. (The Marriott hotels have room block discounts below, but here are a number of great options to cater to your preferences and comfort - 3.3 miles / 8 minutes from wedding venue ) First Flights & Transportation!

Flight

Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW)

For our out-of-town guests, we highly recommend flying into Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW). From DTW to Downtown Detroit: DTW is conveniently located approximately 25 miles from Downtown Detroit. Once you land, you have a few easy options to get to your downtown accommodations: Rental Cars: All major rental car companies operate out of DTW, offering flexibility for exploring the wider Detroit area. Ride-Share: Services like Uber and Lyft are readily available from the airport to take you directly to your hotel. Getting Around Downtown: Once you're settled in Downtown Detroit, navigating is a breeze: Ride-Share: Uber and Lyft are excellent options for getting around downtown and to nearby neighborhoods. Detroit People Mover: This elevated rail system offers a unique and convenient way to travel to many downtown attractions and hotels. Parking: While parking in downtown can be "unique," it is certainly doable! Many hotels offer parking, though please note that most downtown hotels charge a daily fee for parking. There are also various public garages and lots available, which also typically have an associated cost. Proximity to Wedding Venue: The wedding venue is conveniently located right up Jefferson Avenue, one of the main thoroughfares that seamlessly connects Downtown Detroit with the surrounding city. This means it will be either a straight shot to the venue or rather close, depending on your hotel selection. (Within 8 - 15 minutes) If you have any specific questions about travel or logistics, please don't hesitate to reach out! We're here to help make your trip as smooth as possible.
