Beautiful drive through steep canyon next to a creek. Leads up to Hyalite Reservior. Continue on for short hikes to Palisade and Grotto Falls (follow the road signs). If you have a long day take the Grotto Falls trail to Hyalite Peak. If you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of the resident elk heard on your way to the canyon. Warning road may close if there are early snows.
Take the short trek to Grotto Falls 2.4 miles round trip with 278 ft elevation gain. Go a little farther to Arches Falls or Sil-vous-plait falls. 10.0 mile round trip to Hyalite Lake 16.2 if you are feeling spry and have all day to Hyalite Peak and back to the parking area
