Schedule of events

The Wedding Website of Mbali Mabaso and Samuel Fretz
For many of our guests, this will be your first time in Sweden and others, this will be your first time seeing us in many years and/or the first time meeting the other partner. Thus, we will organize some informal activities in Gothenburg to not only show you all the city that we have come to call home, but also to spend some extra time with you all. These activities will occur the week following the wedding and leading up to Midsummer. The informal activities will have their own RSVP form, which we will send out at a later date. These activities will be subject to change based on weather and other factors, but they will definitely occur during Week 25 (17-21 June 2024).

The Wedding

4:00 pm - 11:45 pm

The attire for the wedding is semi-formal to formal. Depending on the weather, we recommend guests to bring a light jacket as the temperature can sometimes drop at night. If rain is in the forecast, please bring a rain jacket.

The wedding will be child-free. For parents, we kindly ask you to arrange for childcare/babysitting services ahead of time. For transport to and from the wedding venue, we will arrange for a private bus service to pick up guests from central Gothenburg around 16:00 (4 PM) and transport guests back around 01:00 (1 AM) on 16 June with arrival in central Gothenburg around 02:00 (2 AM). (Please ignore the time of 11:45 PM on this event overhead). The exact times and places for each bus will be determined closer to the wedding date. If guests need to arrive or depart from the wedding venue at different times, we ask them to arrange their own transport. Details for childcare, transport, and more can be found in "The Most Important Wedding Information." To RSVP "yes" for the wedding, please use the form found here: https://forms.gle/RX1CYbhzELxN6wLG7 To RSVP "no", please email us at: samwedsmbali@gmail.com. Please RSVP as soon as possible.

Lunch at a Swedish Restaurant

12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The attire is casual.

Seating should be available both inside and outside. Karlson's Garage and Bar has many traditional Swedish meals and a wide selection of beer, wine, and other beverages. It is one of our favorite places to take out-of-town guests when we want them to try Swedish food. Karlson's Garage is also where Sam's parents first met Mbali! As is customary in Sweden, we ask all guests to pay for their meals and beverages as they order them (i.e. we will not open a tab). This will also avoid complicated bill splitting at the end of the lunch. Website: https://www.facebook.com/karlsonsgarage/

Excursion to Liseberg

12:45 pm - 9:00 pm

Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing to spend the day outside. Be prepared for rain if it is in the forecast.

We would like to plan a day to see one of Gothenburg's main attractions with our guests: Liseberg! Liseberg is an amusement part where many of the rides have a Viking or Nordic theme. There is also an area for small kids, called Kaninlandet (lit: The Bunny Land). We will plan on meeting at the park entrance about 15 minutes before the park opens. Guests can arrive later if they want, but please note that it might be hard to locate the group as the park is fairly big. Guests need not stay for the whole day since Liseberg is centrally located and there are many tram stops close by. We ask our guests to please book and pay for their tickets in advance because Liseberg now limits the number of guests each day. Additionally, please familiarize yourself with the types of tickets that Liseberg offers: all-in-one for entry and unlimited rides; entry tickets for only entering the park; and ride tickets (åkkupong) to pay for each ride individually. Midsummer Picnic at Slottsskogen

12:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Please wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to spend the day outside.

As the last event, we would like to share in one of Sweden's longest and most cherished traditions: Midsummer! For this event, we will go to one of the main parks in Gothenburg, Slottsskogen, and have a picnic. We should be able to see lots of locals enjoying the sun and dancing around a Maypole. We, Mbali and Sam, will provide some of the basic items such as disposable plates, cutlery, cups, and some grills to cook the food on. We kindly ask guests to bring food and drink for themselves and a bit more to share. We will send out a list of recommended items closer to the date. To know where to meet the group since Slottsskogen is a large park, we will send out a meet up point as the date approaches. Guests can arrive later if they want and they should be able to find us at the meet up point. As with Liseberg, guests need not stay for the whole day since Slottsskogen is centrally located and there are many tram stops close by.
