Love Story

Maya and Zach first met during orientation for their PhD program in Cancer Biology at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. As part of an icebreaker, both happened to mention they were interested in golf — a small moment that would end up meaning a lot. They began spending time in the same group of friends, and one day, Zach asked Maya when they were actually going to go golfing together. That one round turned into many, and before long, they were golfing nearly every weekend that season. Through all those hours spent golfing, they became incredibly close. They quickly grew into best friends — the kind who could talk endlessly, laugh over the smallest things, and quietly understand each other in a way that felt different. There was always something unspoken between them, something that made their friendship feel different. Their friends noticed it too — and often wondered when the two would finally admit what everyone else could already see. About a year into their friendship, they went on what could only be described as a first date (even if neither of them dared to call it that at the time). A few months later, they both found the courage to share how they truly felt. From that point on, everything fell into place. Long before anything official began, both Maya and Zach already knew they found their person — the one they wanted to spend forever with. Even before the timing was right, they knew it wasn't a matter of if, but when. No matter what life brought their way, they were certain of one thing: they were going to marry each other, no matter how long they had to wait. And now, that moment is finally here — a celebration of a love that's quietly growing from the very start.
