She was just leaving the city of Boston, and he was just arriving. It started as a summer fling of picnic dates by the Charles River docks, but it swiftly became obvious that we had each found our other half. However, after just a couple of short months, our time was cut short when Maya moved to California for college. Not knowing when we'd see each other again, we made the decision to stay together and endure the long distance. A young Maya and Jesse, in the face of such uncertainty, knew we couldn’t give up what we had found in each other. Ultimately Maya’s journey led her back to Boston, which allowed our relationship to blossom. Our life together was officially beginning to form. 10 years is a long time by any metric. For us, we have experienced the entirety of our 20’s together, our first (legal) drinks, first real jobs, first apartments, first pets, the discovery of passions and interests, likes and dislikes, thrills and fears, the facing and healing of trauma, friends come and gone, and both fortunate and unfortunate haircuts experimented with. Throughout the last 10 years (or as Jesse says, “the last 1/3 of my life”), we have experienced the pains of losing not only loved ones but losing our sense of self, and the heights of joy that can only be felt by experiencing the beauty of the Earth together and finding ourselves again in it. On November 2nd, we are excited to officially celebrate our love after 10 unforgettable years, and the love that we have for everyone who has been with us along the way.
