FAQs

The Wedding Website of Maxine Burke and Jake Walsh
Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

The wedding ceremony will be Black Tie. Please refer to the Attire tab for helpful inspiration photos and additional attire details for the Welcome Party, Wedding Day, and Recovery Day.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Children are welcome at all of the weekend festivities, but the wedding day itself will be a true “parents’ night off.” Professional childcare can be arranged either onsite at the Boschendal accommodations or at your hotel, depending on your preference. If you would like to arrange childcare for the wedding day or weekend events, please contact the agency below directly. Our wedding planner and team have worked with Wineland Nannies for many years and highly recommend them. You can reach them at sue@winelandnannies.com and https://www.winelandnannies.com. The agency will also coordinate transportation for the nanny to and from your accommodation on the days you request support. We recommend reaching out at least 6 months before the wedding, as they do book up quickly during this time of year due to the high number of weddings taking place in the Winelands.

Question

When should guests plan on arriving to Cape Town by?

Answer

We recommend arriving in Cape Town by Wednesday, December 2, 2026, at the latest, giving you time to settle in and adjust to the time difference. You may wish to arrive earlier to explore this beautiful city or extend your stay with an adventure after the wedding - it’s entirely up to you. Our official wedding festivities will take place in Franschhoek, in the Cape Winelands, approximately a 40-minute drive from Cape Town. The weekend begins with our Welcome Party on Friday, December 4, at 5:00 p.m. Our ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 5, with guests arriving from 4:30 p.m. and the ceremony beginning promptly at 5:00 p.m. We’ll conclude the festivities with a Recovery Day and Pool Party on Sunday, December 6, at 1:00 p.m. For those arriving early to Cape Town, we’ll be hosting a catamaran day on Wednesday, December 2, followed by drinks and light bites at Chinchilla Rooftop Bar in Camps Bay - our chance to enjoy the best of Cape Town before the celebrations move to the Winelands. An RSVP will be required, so stay tuned for more details. Please feel free to reach out to Jake or Maxine with any questions. We can’t wait to celebrate with you! xx

Question

Do you have any accommodation recommendations?

Answer

Wedding Weekend at Boschendal Wine Estate, Franschhoek On-site stays (wedding weekend): We’ve reserved the entire venue exclusively for our guests, however on-site accommodation at Boschendal is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. For those staying off-site, our travel agent Alex Blyth will be available to assist with securing accommodations in the nearby towns of Franschhoek and Stellenbosch, as well as with any additional travel planning. Off-site nearby: Prefer to stay off-site? The town of Franschhoek has plenty of beautiful hotels and Airbnbs just 5-15 minutes from Boschendal. Please refer to the Travel & Stays tab for accommodation recommendations and if you prefer to stay offsite, Alex Blyth at alex@zuricollective.com can help you book your acommodation in Franschhoek at another property. Cape Town stays: If you’re exploring Cape Town before or after the wedding, check out our favorites on the Travel page. To join our recommended Cape Town room blocks before the wedding, please email Alex Blyth at alex@zuricollective.com by Nov/Dec 2025. December is peak season in Cape Town, so if booking independently, plan 9–12 months ahead (late 2025 to early 2026). Q: I’m traveling with my family or a group of friends - do you recommend any larger villas or Airbnbs? A: Yes! We highly recommend exploring homes on Airbnb or Perfect Hideaways (for luxury rentals) in Cape Town, particularly in the Clifton and Camps Bay areas. Please see links below: https://www.perfecthideaways.co.za/hideaways/africa/south-africa/western-cape/cape-town/atlantic-seaboard/clifton/ https://www.airbnb.com/wishlists/viewonly/691776f2-9f4a-4a16-aee7-8042a14760e2?s=67&unique_share_id=24e74330-b758-4b90-895f-02f9a57bf73c

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

We’re sending out Save the Dates now to give everyone plenty of notice, as this will be a destination wedding for almost all of you! Formal invitations with RSVP details will follow in April 2026. If you already know whether you’ll be able to join us (or sadly can’t), we’d love to hear from you sooner. Formal RSVPs will be due by August 15, 2026.

Question

Hair & Makeup or Beauty Services?

Answer

If you’re interested in having your hair or makeup done during the wedding weekend, our planner highly recommends D & M Agency, a wonderful team who regularly work with weddings in the area. Their artists can travel directly to your accommodation and are able to accommodate both individual appointments and group bookings. If you are spending time in Cape Town before heading to the Winelands and would like to book beauty services, we also love Dante Beauty Spa in Sea Point. They offer a range of treatments including manicures, pedicures, facials, and other beauty services. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dantewellness_dantenails/ We recommend reaching out about 6 months in advance, as December is a very busy wedding season in the Winelands and artists tend to book up quickly.
