Friday 9/16, 11:00 We will plan to meet at Deception Pass State Park, which is about a 25-minute drive from Captain Whidbey. Carpooling is encouraged, since parking is limited. We will meet at the "North and West Beach Parking Lot" (the marked location if you click on the photo above) at one of the picnic areas. Bring your own snacks or lunch. Then for whoever is interested, there are multiple options for 2-3 mile hikes. You will need a Discover Pass (one per car) which is $10 per day or $30 for the season. You can buy these at various locations, including the Deception Pass State Park entrance, Red Apple Market in Coupeville, or Safeway in Oak Harbor.
If you have time, we suggest doing a kayak tour! Whidbey Island Kayaking will be leading multiple tours of Penn Cove, leaving from the Captain Whidbey dock. They have set aside a few times for our guests, for groups of up to 8 people, and will be holding these until 9/7. If interested, call Whidbey Island Kayaking directly and tell them you're part of our wedding group, to reserve a spot and pay. The cost is $79/person for a 2-hour tour. The available times are 9/16 at 12:00 and 3:00, and 9/17 at 10:30. We also will have a few kayaks available at Captain Whidbey that you can take out on your own whenever you'd like.
Saturday 9/17, 10:00 We will plan to meet here for a 3-mile loop hike for whoever is interested! We will split off into multiple groups as needed, or you can just explore the beach or walk along the bluff trail for however far you'd like. Click the photo to see the location where we will meet on the map. Parking is very limited so please carpool as much as possible. You will need a Discover Pass (one per car) which is $10 per day or $30 for the season. You can buy these at various locations, including the Deception Pass State Park entrance, Red Apple Market in Coupeville, or Safeway in Oak Harbor.
Be sure to check out the historic waterfront and wharf of Coupeville. The Island County Museum is nearby, as well as lots of restaurants, cafes, and shops. We highly recommend the breakfast sandwiches and cardamom rolls at the Little Red Hen Bakery!
