Sara & Max matched on not one, but *TWO* different dating apps. They started chatting, joking that it was clear the internet gods wanted them to talk to each other. During their first date, which consisted of drinks, coffee, and tacos (in that order), the vague topic of marriage came up....just to see if they were on the same page for the future. Max, being a romantic but also politically-inclined, said he would want to propose on top of the Capitol Rotunda overlooking the National Mall in Washington, DC. "Well that sounds awesome, but it has totally ruined the surprise if you ever propose to me!"
Fast forward to April 26, 2021: Sara's birthday. Max wants to take the birthday girl on a hike! But while wearing decent clothes...and without the dog... *cue suspicion.* Hiking along through Rock Creek Park, Max and Sara follow a winding, upward path to an area that looks like...ruins? Enormous stones that are just collecting moss and bird poop in the middle of this beautiful park. Max told Sara that in 1958, the Capitol was renovated and, with no place to dispose of what was removed, the builders dumped a chunk of the original Capitol building's foundation in the forest. So it may not have been the Capitol Rotunda, but it was definitely a part of the Capitol. And at this point, Sara is bawling. Max is down on one knee and pops the question. Sara is still crying. No response. . . . He asks again, "So *will* you marry me?" She says "Yes!" not knowing that her excessive crying drowned out the first time he asked. So now we are planning a wedding, and you are reading this because you are a special person to Max and Sara! Explore the site, let us know if you have questions, and let's all get ready to party!!!
