Emerald bay state park is one of the most photographed landmark in the US. The trees, lakeview and hiking trails are perfect for a post-brunch stroll. Its one of our favorite spots to walk Molly and have a picnic on the beach at the bottom of the trail.
A 2.4 mile ride up in the Heavenly Mountain Gondola will leave you breathless as you take in panoramic views of Lake Tahoe. On your way up, stop at the Observation Deck for photos, a latte at Cafe Blue or a unique Heavenly souvenir at The Gondola Sports shop. Once you get to the top, head up the Tamarack Express chairlift with your Scenic Gondola ticket for some of the best views of Lake Tahoe and access to a series of hiking trails, ranging from beginner to expert.
ATV tours are a great way to have fun while taking in the nature Lake Tahoe has to offer. These are some of our favorite spots to go ATV-ing. The famed Rubicon trail and the Pine Nut Mountain trails are packed with flora and fauna of Tahoe.
Lower Eagle Falls is located right above Emerald Bay. The hike to the top is a leisurely one that is not too strenuous. Beginning hikers may find it to be somewhat steep; however, they should be able to complete. All hikers should wear shoes that are appropriate for walking on a potentially slippery waterfall trail. Once you reach the top, you will be completely surrounded by wilderness and natural beauty. Listen to the water roar and take in the aroma of the nearby pine trees.
One of our favorite brunch spots in South Lake! The Driftwood Cafe is a family friendly, cozy, home-style cafe specializing in creative omelettes, Eggs Benedict, potato pancakes, buttermilk pancakes and waffles, sandwiches, burgers, homemade soups & black bean chicken chili, fresh squeezed orange juice, locally roasted coffee. Also serving Bloody Marys, Mimosas, draft and bottled beer.
