Question

What about the pandemic?

Answer

Everyone over the age of 16 must be fully vaccinated in order to attend our wedding. Outdoor transmission is 20x less likely, even for the unvaccinated, so we feel confident in an outdoor, fully vaccinated event. We are asking guests to follow CDC guidelines by masking indoors and to lay low the week before the wedding just in case. We also encourage guests to wear masks, or even to score a 3rd vaccine dose, especially if you are over 60 and got vaccinated 5+ months ago. You can also choose to get a COVID test before/after.

Question

What do I wear?

Answer

For the wedding ceremony and reception itself, cocktail/garden attire at the minimum - but feel free to get as fancy as you like! For some folks, that might look like a suit, or a button down shirt and slacks. For other folks, that might look like a sundress/maxi dress, or a cocktail dress and heels, a jumpsuit, or a gown/tux if you've got one you've been yearning to take out the closet - whatever feels right for you to celebrate and dance with us! All colors, prints, and gender expressions welcome. Please remember basically everything will involve open air as well. I would not recommend heels on Friday night. For Saturday, the ground is turf, so no worries about mud/getting heels stuck there!

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Guests can begin arriving at 4:30PM, please be seated by 5PM.

Question

What's the deal with Friday night?

Answer

In lieu of a traditional rehearsal dinner, we are going to sign our ketubah (Jewish wedding contract) and the other legal paperwork before sundown and do a Shabbat ceremony and family photos on the lake. Then, we'll have snacks around the firepits at the lake. Family members will be there 5-7/7:30, and any local friends are more than welcome to come out around 7/7:30. If you're traveling from out of town but not family or in the wedding party, you're welcome to join us as well, but no need to bend over backwards if it's cheaper/easier to fly out Friday night or Saturday.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

We have a hotel block at the Renaissance: https://book.passkey.com/go/HassettSmithWedding, and I've put together an AirBNB list at https://www.airbnb.com/wishlists/683299796
