BY AIR Most Travelers choose to fly to Montrose (MTJ), which is the second closest airport to Telluride and an easy 1 hour and 20 minute drive to the Town of Telluride. Telluride Airport (TEX) is just minutes from Town but offers limited service through Denver Air Connection. Grand Junction (GJT), Durango (DRO), and Gunnison (GUC) are three additional options, all serviced by major airlines, and are about a 2.5-hour scenic drive for guests who don't mind renting a car. TRAVEL TO AND FROM MONTROSE AIRPORT If you're arriving in Montrose (MTJ) or Telluride (TEX), there are private shuttle services available to and from the airports, and these should be scheduled in advance. Shuttle services include Telluride Express (970-728-6000) and Telluride Mountain Limo (888-546-6894).
Travel Note
Once you arrive, you won't need a car! Both Telluride and Mountain Village are very walkable, and the free gondola connects the Town of Telluride and Mountain Village in about 12 minutes. The gondola makes it easy (and incredibly scenic!) to travel between the two throughout the weekend; so we recommend being walkable to a gondala station. Part of the charm of Telluride is the town itself! We recommend staying in the Town of Telluride however, Mountain Village is also a great option. The Telluride/Mountain Village Gondola runs daily from 6:30am to 12:00am. For those staying in Mountain Village, Dial-A-Ride operates 7 days a week and provides point to point transportation in Mountain Village to all residents and guests. Call 970-728-8888 to book your ride. Rental cars are available at the airport to accommodate travel to and from airports. Tip: the rental car businesses in the airport close early. Confirm your appointment with the company prior to your arrival. There are no Uber/Lyfts in Telluride. Taxis are available but you need to pre-schedule any trips ahead of time. Telluride Express (888-212-8294) and Telluride Mountain Limo (888-546-6894) are both great options. The Town of Telluride also operates the Galloping Goose, a free bus that runs a continuous loop through the town every 10-15 minutes. Within the town, you can walk just about anywhere in 15 minutes!
