It was the Fourth of July after senior year of high school when a mutual friend invited us on a camping trip in the Wyoming mountains. At the time, it felt like nothing more than one last summer adventure before everyone headed off in different directions. We pitched our tents by the water, roasted marshmallows, and stayed up late laughing with everyone around the campfire. When the fireworks lit up the sky, we ended up standing side by side, taking it all in without realizing how much that moment would shape our lives. We said goodbye like it was just another fun weekend, not knowing it was actually the beginning of our forever. Once we got home, the conversations didn’t stop. Calls turned into hours, and laughter slowly turned into something deeper. What started in Wyoming carried into the fall and across state lines as Aspen left for Dartmouth College in New Hampshire and Max began his journey at Colorado School of Mines. Long distance wasn't easy, but it made us stronger. We learned to hold tightly to the moments that mattered most and celebrated every reunion like a holiday, counting down the days until we could close the distance again. Today, we live together in Columbus, Ohio, finally in the same place and starting the life we always dreamed of. Sometimes we still think about that summer night in Wyoming and smile at how quietly everything began. Whether we’re skiing together in the winter, fly fishing on a sunny afternoon, or planning our next mountain getaway, being outside together still feels like home. By the time we say “I do,” we will have spent six years choosing each other through every season, every challenge, and every mile between us. We’re endlessly grateful for every moment that led us here and so excited for the adventures ahead, side by side, carrying a love that started when we least expected it.
