We're getting married!

When asked how long we have been together or how we met, we can never agree on an answer. Technically we have known of each other since seventh grade. Technically we spoke for the first time December of 2013. Technically we made things official in 2015. But our story starts New Years 2014 (about fifteen minutes after midnight) at Louis Basque Corner. Max approached me while I was sitting at the bar. Even though we do not remember what we talked about, we do remember laughing until last call. Max even got my number.

We had planned a trip down to the central coast for my thirtieth birthday for months. Little did I know, Max had another surprise planned for that trip as well. Since we did not have any set plans for our first day, I suggested we go to this gorgeous area on the coast called Montana De Oro. He agreed rather quickly (this should have been my first red flag). As we walked along the cliffs of Montana de Oro, I was pretending to be tour guide and telling stories of my adventures there. Meanwhile, Max was walking a couple spaces behind me the entire time so I would not notice a ring box in his back pocket (second red flag). Once we reached a specific cliff that reached out farther than others, we took turns taking pictures of each other. He suggested we get a photo together and proceeded to ask a couple nearby to take one (third red flag). Quietly, so I would not hear, he asked the gentleman to actually take a video. Max led me further down the cliff, and by the time I realized something was off with the man taking a video, I saw Max reaching into his back pocket. IT WAS HAPPENING! Max got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I of course said "yes"! Once the couple left and the initial shock passed, I started bawling tears of joy!
