The wedding and reception will be held together at: La Cour Venue 1789 Co Rd 338 McKinney, TX 75071 They have onsite parking and you can leave your car there overnight if you have been drinking. Their gates will be open from 8-10a on Saturday if you need to pick up your car. Ubers are also available from the venue. We will have a Shuttle from and back to The Sheraton McKinney if you do not want to drive!
There's no right or wrong answer here. McKinney La Cour is about a 6m drive from downtown McKinney, which is about 45m north of Dallas. If you don't have time to explore Dallas or want to avoid all the traffic, McKinney would be a perfect place to stay. There is a PGA (pro golf) event in McKinney this weekend, so it'd be best to book your stay as soon as you can. You can also look at places in Plano/Frisco which are also big cities with a lot of options for places to stay and closer to McKinney than Dallas. Dallas If you plan on exploring Dallas before or after our wedding, you can certainly stay closer to Dallas. You would need to drive or Uber/Lyft (recommended) to the venue. An Uber from downtown Dallas to McKinney is ~$50. Feel free to send us links to where you are looking to stay, and we can help confirm if it's a good or bad area. If you stay closer to Dallas, we ask that on the day of the wedding you leave ~75 minutes before the ceremony as traffic can cause a delay!
We prefer for our wedding to be an adults-only celebration! Not just for us, but for y'all to be able to enjoy a kid-free evening. That said, we recognize the potential cost and challenges associated with not bringing your children with you. If you're unable to attend without bringing your children, please let us know and we'll see if there's room open to bring them. We will be inviting our nephews, nieces and godchildren, so there will be children present.
La Cour Venue will close at 11p. For those who want to keep the night going, we'll go to The Pub McKinney until close (2:00 am). The bar is just 9 minutes from the venue.
All are welcome to join us for recovery and continued celebration, but this can also be your day to rest, relax and do touristy stuff. We will be at Tupps Brewery in McKinney at 11 am and then move to Community Beer Co at around 3pm.
GREAT QUESTION! Here are our favorite BBQ places with some info about them. - PECAN LODGE - Located in Deep Ellum (Dallas). This is Isa's favorite BBQ spot, make sure you either go early or at odd hours during the weekend, there is always a line! Highly recommend ordering the fried rib! - TERRY BLACK'S - Also in Deep Ellum (Dallas) and a little more expensive than Pecan Lodge but SO good. - LOCKHART SMOKEHOUSE - In Bishop Arts (Dallas). David's favorite BBQ joint, in one of the city's most walkable neighborhoods. - SLOW BONE - In the Design District (Dallas). David's #2 BBQ joint. A more southern flair to the food and sides. Check hours before you go, as the hours are limited! - Hutchins BBQ - For those staying in McKinney, this is the go-to stop for BBQ. If anyone plans to visit Fort Worth, we'd recommend Heim Barbecue.
Our biggest gift is celebrating with you! We know many of you will be traveling to be with us, so please do not feel you need to get us anything. If you still feel inclined to give us something, we added a registry to the website.
