Train
Hudson, NY is ~2.5 hours from NYC by car, but train is also a great option! You can take Amtrak directly from Penn Station (NYC) to Hudson, NY, which takes ~2 hours. Please be sure to purchase tickets ahead of time! Summer is a busy time for travel in the area. Rates vary depending on how early you book, and what day and time you are traveling, but they're around $30 for our wedding weekend, as I write this. The train route follows the Hudson River and is a beautiful trip! (Sit on the right side of the train for a better view of the river and surrounding landscapes) The Hudson train station is a short 5-10 minute walk from downtown Hudson. Amtrak tickets can be purchased at www.amtrak.com. When planning your Amtrak trip google maps is also a helpful resource - click on the Public Transportation icon.
Flight
If you are flying in, there are several airport options. Albany (ALB) is conveniently located to Coxsackie, but will have more limited flight options. Worth looking into (~30 minute drive)! Newark (EWR) has tons of flight options, and you may avoid some traffic in the five boroughs if you plan to drive (~2.5 hrs drive). There is also public transport (shuttle or train) to Penn Station to conveniently transfer to Amtrak. Uber/Lyft is also available to travel to Penn Station. LGA & JFK will have many flight options, but be prepared for more traffic in the city if you plan to drive (3+ hrs drive). These are good options if you plan to fly + train into Hudson - take the subway or an Uber/Lyft to Penn Station to connect to Amtrak. Bradley International Airport (BDL) - about 30 min less of a drive than the NYC airports...worth looking into as well!
Hotel
The Nest — https://www.nesthudson.com/ Reasonably priced and conveniently located. The Wick — https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/albtx-the-wick-hudson-a-tribute-portfolio-hotel/ For some reason if you only select August 16th it's wildly pricey, so not great if you're only coming for the big day, but otherwise it's also conveniently located and reasonably priced. The Amelia Hudson — http://www.theameliahudson.com/ A little pricier than The Wick and Nest Hudson. Hudson Mariner — https://hudsonmariner.com/ Convenient but slightly pricier option. Wm. Farmer and Sons — https://www.wmfarmerandsons.com/ Higher end option right near the river. Other options: Hudson Whaler The Howard Hotel Rivertown Lodge Hudson Navigator
House Or Rental
There are a lot of great Airbnb options in Hudson. We recommend staying with a "Superhost" and in the downtown Hudson area so that you can walk to and from the shuttle bus. The downtown area is considered to stretch from Front Street/Empire State Trail on the west side, Allen and/or Union Street on the south side, Prospect Avenue on the east side, and south of Underhill Pond. We also recommend selecting the filter "Entire Home", so that you don't end up sharing the space with someone whom you might not want to! Highly encourage you to responsibly take a look!
