Question

What will the weather be like? What do I need to bring?

Answer

In October, the average low temperature is 50 degrees, the average high is 72 degrees. Average precipitation is 3.5 inches. Bring layers because it could be cooler. Rain coat and umbrella.

Question

What should I wear to the wedding?

Answer

The wedding will be outdoors in the afternoon. Wear something you love, as casual or formal as you would like. The bride and groom will be in formal attire with white and blue colors. We are hopeful for good weather, though given that it's Arkansas, it could also be stormy or rain any time. IF IT IS STORMY THAT DAY: WE WILL MEET AT SWEET SPRING AS PLANNED, THEN WALK A SHORT DISTANCE TO CRESCENT SPRING WHERE THERE IS A GAZEBO.

Question

Do I need to prepapre a toast, song, or reading for the reception? Should I bring an instrument?

Answer

We will have the traditional time for dancing and toasts, and also time for our own "Open Mic." We will be in a venue with a formal raised stage that we may or may not use depending on who would like to do so. At this time, we plan on having a full sound system, with a mixture of recorded music, live music, or anything else we would want. Musicians bring your portable instruments. Impromptu is encouraged! Courageous folks who plan on dedicating a speech, singing a song, or reading a poem, we would love that! Please let us know if you plan to do so.

Question

Will we see the turning of the leaves?

Answer

We hope so! October is the beginning of the turning of the leaves and Eureka Springs is considered to be #5 out of the top ten cities for places to view the turning in the country (just under New England and Colorado.) We attempted to land the wedding on this, and, locals say it's been unpredictable for the last few years. Cross our fingers!

Question

Is it true there are ticks and chiggers in Arkansas?

Answer

YES! Please be careful on outdoor trails and do not go off trail or brush up against plants, etc. Unfortunately, at this time of year, they are still out. Do not walk around barefoot even on nice lawn grass. (Yes, east-coast, west-coast peeps, not even lawn grass.)
