Nicole and Matthew unknowingly met countless times before they finally managed to seal the deal. Their first true encounter was in 2010 at a Halloween party in a dilapidated factory aptly called “Hallowasted” (Ironically hosted by Nicoles brother “Frankie Rainbows”). Luckily the kegs were kicked before Matt got there so he was reduced to dancing all by his lonesome. Through the fog, Nicole spotted a man dressed as Zombie Jesus twirling by himself in the sparkly lasers and thought to herself, “Oh! He looks like fun?!” They immediately hit it off! Nicole’s parents were in costume at the party and her mom walked past and Nicole exclaimed “Mom, I’m dancing with Jesus! It’s not a sin”. However, shortly thereafter, a practical joke Matt played on his friend forced him to leave earlier than expected. As Matt reluctantly disappeared up the hill into the night, Nicole got one last glimpse and proclaimed, “I love you Jesus!” down the street. For months Matt lost sleep over not getting her number. Nicole immediately forgot who Matt was… Star swipe → A few months later Matthew and Nicole magically caught one another dancing in a pile of balloons at a New Year's Eve Beck coverband concert. Luckily, no kegs were kicked that night and Matt literally let his hair down. The moment this happened, Nicole looked into his eyes and shrieked “Zombie Jesus!?” They quickly exchanged numbers and planned a morning hike at Tifft Nature Preserve. Matt walked her home in a snowstorm to Frank's apartment where he was forced to sleep on Frank’s couch. They had champagne for breakfast and took off for their hike. Somewhere between meeting a magical beaver, watching a bird land on Nicole's finger, and seeing a fawn slide over a frozen pond like Bambi, Matt knew Nicole was the one - it was the perfect day. Later that afternoon Matt took Nicole to brunch and when his expired debit card was declined Nicole hesitantly picked up the bill. They hugged goodbye and as Nicole walked away Matt exclaimed, “I’ll call you later!” to which she replied, “I probably won’t answer!” She did not answer… Matt did not give up. He was so persistent he invited himself to join Nicole on a road trip across the country for an “extended visit” in Salt Lake City the summer of 2011. They never left Utah. These two were destined from the start. It took countless mountains, memories, hoe-downs and adventures but they can finally say they tied the knot in Kauai 7/23…and inconveniently slapped together an extremely last minute rager we all have been waiting for → Sorry, not Sorry!
