Matthew adopted Gus in November 2015 - 8 months before meeting Nafis. Using a puppy pic on his online dating profile, Gus reeled in Nafis and the two have been inseparable ever since! You can find Gus laying in Nafis's office, waiting for him to get home for the day.

Paul and Matt have been friends for nearly 5 years, and first met in a PRIDE meeting at Dell. These two not only bonded over their shared love of helping others, but also can make each other laugh without saying a word. If you can't ever find these two in a crowd, listen for their cackles!

Aasim and Nafis have been friends for almost 15 years! They sent most of their teenage years killing time around town, hanging at each others houses, and trying not to get into too much trouble. Aasim is a total package when it comes to friends - hilarious, supportive, endearing, and above all honest when you need a taste of reality. You can catch them both taking a trip to New Orleans and eating lots of beignets from Cafe Du Monde.

Who knew Pythagorean's Theorem would bring people together?! Suman and Nafis bonded in high school over hours and hours of time spent on the phone "getting homework done" -- AKA laughing hysterically due to sleep deprivation. Suman has been Nafis' rock ever since they met and now colleagues as they pursue real estate together in TN and TX! You'll find these two at a Chili's annihilating a molten lava cake.

Kayla and Matt first met in 2014 while working at Saffire Restaurant and Bar in Franklin, TN. The original #GirlsoftheFall, Matt and Kayla have bonded over seemingly living the exact same life growing up, only a thousand miles away. These two were meant to find each other! You can find Matt and Kayla in a corner somewhere, ignoring everyone else and having the best time <3

Ever since freshman year Biology, Remy and Nafis have been inseparable. These two found interests in so many things from French to making amateur videos with our friends. These two share a passion of philosophy and literature and could talk for hours on end about the meaning of life. You could catch these two staying up late watching Monty Python and The Dark Knight (for the 13th time).

Hailey and Matt's friendship started on Myspace in the 8th grade, and these two eventually middle school dated before they both came out as gay!! Matt and Hailey have been roommates, classmates, neighbors and friends for a lifetime. Talk about a kooky duo! Nafis met Caitlin at an ice cream social the first few days at the University of Miami and soon realized it was over when their rooms were just a floor away from each other. The amount of absurd scenarios that came out of the imagination of these wild birds kept life on the campus invigorating and just so damn fun. You could catch these two cuddled up in a large papasan talking about boys and making strange noises with their mouths. <3

Growing up, if these two weren't on the phone, they most certainly were chatting on AIM! Beth and Matt became friends in middle school and have never separated since! Matt's first 'big' hike was with Beth at Patapsco State Park in 2011, and both have been in love with the trails ever since! You can find these two sitting together, high on their corporate thrones

Lana is the wind beneath Nafis' wings. These two have so much in common that it would be an insult not to be great friends. These fun-sized people have been friends since college and share a great enthusiasm for good, healthy food and social justice. Lana and Nafis also share their love for the world around them and being one with nature, just recently in the Smokies! The minute Matt saw Meghan at Dell, he knew they would be friends for LIFE! Meghan and Matt love adventures, whether it's driving up to the middle of no where Kentucky to spray paint a rural road, or getting matching tattoos of Ouija Board pucks. Meghan and Matt share a love for animals and the metaphysical world, as well as music and art. You can find Matt and Meghan on any full moon hosting a circle!

Nafis and Francesca are match made in heaven. Bonding over pre-med in college, these two were working hard and goofing off when it came to classes. Nafis is glad one of them became a doctor (and she's perfect for it too). The two spent a lot of time banging heads together over Chemistry and coming out stronger than ever. These two have been each other's fitness accountability buddies, getting ready to look hot AF for summer 2022!
Catherine Anderson

Matt and Catherine grew up in Easton together, spending every second we could in nature. Catherine took Matt on many camping trips with her family growing up, instilling his love for the great outdoors. Catherine and Matt lead the Ecology Club in High School together, as well as spending summer days out on the Chesapeake Bay tubing, trying to avoid jellyfish :) You can find Matt and Catherine outside somewhere, in absolute awe at nature's beauty.

Chris and Nafis have a friendship that says, Crazy? I love crazy! Chris appeared in Nafis' life when he was a young college student working nights as a security assistant at the University of Miami. Chris soon joined the ranks and these two spent way too many hours of the night in delirium talking endlessly about Avatar the Last Airbender. You can find these jovial souls retired by the refreshing waters of Key West in their kaftans.

Born in Erie, PA, Deborah Shaw raised her son Matthew on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Matthew often credits his mother for his compassion and love for animals. Deborah raised her children as vegetarian, and created an environment where animals are equal. Deborah is not just an LGBTQ Ally, she's an accomplice. Always standing up for what's right, Deb always has Matthew's back <3

You can't find a better adventure duo than Nafis and Alexis. They met in Rome while studying abroad on the night of Alexis' birthday - two strangers coming together in a foreign land and celebrating like they were long lost friends. Since then, these two have visited each other all over the map and plan to keep it that way. You can find these two hopping off a train in Pisa, Italy in the pouring rain to "do it for the gram". :D
John Shaw

Born in Moscow, USSR via his US Diplomat parents, John Shaw is Matthew's father. Living in Annapolis, MD, John has dedicated his life to service of others. Working as a Guidance Consoler before retirement for both Montgomery County and Prince George's County Public Schools, John now serves both as a Fire Fighter for Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department, and a Police Officer for the Washington DC Special Police.

It's hard to even put words to describe someone who has been so inspiring and supportive in Nafis' life. Rozina has worn many hats in her lifetime (working mom, caretaker, cat lady :) ) - but the greatest of them all is hero. Her strength and faith have been a blessing to Nafis and a huge factor and what made him the person he is today. She's profound in all the knowledge she conveys to her children and Nafis is forever grateful to have a loving mother.

Talk about the best dad in the world. Kareem in the greatest role model a kid could ever have to look up to. He moved to the US in his early twenties with a a little bit of money in his pockets and a sparkle of hope in his eyes for the future. He has worked as a newspaper runner, a convenient store employee, to owning his own stores, and now as a successful commercial real estate agent in Memphis, TN. Kareem created a safe and nurturing world for Nafis and his family and his warm presence has never dimmed even when the going got tough. Nafis is grateful to have this amazing hardworking character in his life - a true testament that dreams do come true if you put your mind to anything.
