Maureen and Matthew met at Creighton University at the beginning of their senior year. They both were involved in Dr. Zuniga's research project and could see each other 3 times a week. This lead to spending time with each other on weekends, free time and building a friendship. After months of interaction, Matthew finally got the hint and asked Maureen on their first date to the gun range. This was the first time Maureen had fired a hand gun and Matthew was very impressed. After that their friendship and relationship grew with every year.
Maureen was in Billings, Montana for a clinical rotation and Matthew had come to visit. They decided to backpack in Wyoming in the Big Horn Mountains to get away for the weekend. The trail was full of thick vegetation and pine trees without the congestion of popular trails. Once they arrived at their destination there were more mosquitoes then you could even imagine, so Maureen decided to hide in the tent. Matthew had to convince Maureen to get out of the tent by stating "we need to hang the food away from our campsite so the bears don't get it." With great hesitation, Maureen finally exited the protection of the tent. A few minutes later and witnessed by Matthew's GoPro, Matthew got down on one knee and proposed in front of a mountain glacier lake.
