Under Pennsylvania stars, we cruised down 476 in the roomy cabin of my Dodge, headed towards the Bryn Mawr Film Institute to catch the late showing of Cold War. Polish, black and white, and an hour away I knew I was taking a chance. I knew very little about her and we had only been on two dates before this, but I knew she was an art student, I knew her taste in music, I knew the posters on her wall, and I hoped she would love this movie. Credits rolled, we picked up our jaws and walked into the brisk night, taking a sideways path back to the truck, my stomach was in knots. She was and still is out of my league, yet her hand was in mine, and in my truck we laughed our way back to Newark. Over a glass of wine in her dorm we fell back into her futon couch, shoulders touching and at just the right moment we locked eyes, hearts racing, we leaned in.
