With our wedding being Friday we want you all to enjoy a long weekend in Charlottesville! There is ton to do downtown and the surrounding areas so that is why we recommend you staying close to Charlottesville rather than the venue location.

THIS IS WHERE WE GOT ENGAGED! YOU CAN VISIT OUR VINE WITH OUR PERSONAL PLAQUE COMMEMORATING THE DAY! Thatch Winery is nestled in beautiful Albemarle County, the heart of Virginia wine country. Owners David Fratkin and Jeff Miller have created a truly spectacular winery with a focus on exceptional wines and gracious hospitality. State, national and internationally awarded wines are offered for tasting daily from 11am to 6pm. There is a variety of food available for purchase and beautiful grounds for your enjoyment. Choose the tree covered deck or the sunny brick and slate patio to enjoy a glass of wine or sit inside by the fireplace. Seating is available for picnics, group tastings and private parties. Open seasonally April through December, family-owned and -operated Carter Mountain Orchard welcomes visitors to enjoy pick-your-own fruit, homemade cider donuts, and breathtaking views overlooking Charlottesville. he Country Store and Bakery is brimming with unique gifts and specialty foods to discover, including famous apple cider donuts, homemade pies, fresh-pressed cider, and apple butter. For heartier fare, the Mountain Grill serves lunch and concessions during evening events. From the mountaintop tasting rooms, the Prince Michel Wine Shop and Bold Rock Hard Cider Cellar offer tastings, retail, and gorgeous indoor and outdoor spaces to relax with a glass in hand.

City Market offers fresh produce, herbs, plants, grass fed meats, crafts, and baked goods from local vendors every Saturday, April - December. The market features over 100 vendors every Saturday morning. (SNAP customers can redeem their benefits at the market for fresh produce.) City Market is located in downtown Charlottesville at the corner of Water Street & 2nd Street SE. Hours of Operation: Saturdays, April - September: 8 am - 12 noon Saturdays, October - December: 8 am - 1 pm

The Downtown Mall is a vibrant collection of more than 120 shops and 30 restaurants (many with outdoor cafes) housed in the historic buildings on and around old Main Street. Enjoy dining al fresco (in season) at a number of fine restaurants, shop at any of the unique boutiques or meander by flowing fountains. Take in a movie or play at one of the several fine theaters. Convenient parking in nearby garages and parking lots, as well as free trolley service connecting the Downtown Mall to the University of Virginia along West Main Street make a visit to the downtown easy for visitors of all ages.

Established in 2000 by owner Dave Matthews, Blenheim Vineyards is a family-owned and operated winery located 20 minutes southeast of Charlottesville. With two vineyard sites growing Chardonnay, Viognier, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the goal at Blenheim is to make high quality wines that reflect the climate, soil, and beauty of the surrounding piedmont landscape. Come visit out timber frame tasting room, where you can gaze out over the vineyards to Jefferson's "sea view" beyond. Peer through paneled glass floors into the tank and barrel room below. We're open daily from 11:00 am to 5:30 pm. Tastings are $5 per person. Please call ahead if you'll have 8 or more in your group.
