Yes, do this at the airport or call your bank before you go to have the cash on hand. Using a credit card while shopping and eating establishments is fine too, I’d make sure to inform that credit card company of your travel dates so they don’t block your card

Contact your provider and ask them about adding an international plan to your account before your trip. I did this with T Mobile and for $35 USD I had unlimited text and calling with 5G of data.
