There is a special place on the Northwest side of Kauaʻi called the Nā Pali coast. Along that coastline there is a secluded valley named Kalalau. Matt & Genevieve had both been to this beach independently prior to knowing one another. In fact, according to Genevieve, she only swiped to the right on Tinder for Matt because of his photo at this magical place. The match was made and their story began. Matt found himself in Hawaiʻi truly as a result of serendipity, while Genevieve followed her passion and pursued her Masters at HPU. Since they both lived on Oʻahu for a few years prior to meeting one another, they each had experienced the island in slightly different ways. Matt lived in “town” while Genevieve resided in Kailua, also known as “God’s Country”. It wasn’t long before Matt fell in love with the Windward side and moved in with his first (and last) female roommate. The two souls spent their days exploring as much of the Hawaiian Islands as possible. If they weren’t getting muddy in the Koʻolau Mountains they were probably getting sandy at Kalamas beach or BBQing in their carport with friends. They both equally enjoyed jumping into prop planes and island hopping to experience everything this place had to offer. Even though Genevieve said “I love you” first while Matt replied “No you don’t”, it wasn’t until their trip to Molokaʻi when the couple fully understood what love felt like. Fast forward to nearly three years later, Matt finally grew a pair and orchestrated a top secret proposal on the very same Kalalau beach that initially brought them together. We are so excited to continue our journey and cannot wait to spend our special day of matrimony with you all!
