Bruna was walking down the street reading her science notes, when she accidentally stepped into the crosswalk as the light turned. A bus rapidly approached when Matt swept in heroically pulling Bruna to safety! Immediately smitten, she asked how can I ever repay you... Matt simply replied, let me take you to dinner and the rest is history as they say. Well, it that deviates a bit from the truth. The real story is not so much of a romcom, but involved more of the 21st century technology. The truth is that Bruna and Matt met on Bumble! The one place Bruna swore she would never meet the love of her life, but her friends insisted and even helped build her profile. Bruna and Matt went on their first date to Condados, Matt promised to buy her tacos and margaritas. Bruna was 15 minutes late because she was trying to pay at a handicap parking meter. Of course, Matt went to help her and upon discovering the issue he quietly asked himself, “thought this girl has a PhD.” She was so excited for the date, she didn’t even notice she had to pay at a different meter. As soon as the margaritas arrived, he forgot about all that and was smitten by Bruna’s smile. They had such a good time lost in conversation that the meter expired to which Bruna received a parking ticket. After that first date, they have been inseparable!

The original plan was for Matt to propose during their New Years trip to Brazil. However, plans changed due to Covid and they decided to stay in Indianapolis. Matt then had to go with plan B, an intimate proposal at home on December 23rd. Bruna and Matt had dinner reservations that night and Matt made sure Bruna was ready at 7:30 pm because he had a surprise before dinner. At 7:30 pm on the dot, Matt pointed at a gift bag hanging in the back of their Christmas tree. Inside was a picture of them with Reggie and the comment “Your family”. Matt then said that even though Bruna was not with her family for Christmas, that Reggie and him were also her family. Matt got down on one knee and with teary eyes popped the famous question “Will you marry me?”. Bruna shocked, could just say “I love you!”, which of course means YES! They toasted with champagne while calling their parents and then went of to a romantic fireside dinner.

Bruna and Matt cannot wait to share their special day with friends and family. Since Bruna was born and raised in Brazil, she has always wanted her friends to experience the Brazilian culture. So what better place to host a wedding than on an island in the south of Brazil?! Matt and Bruna hope all their friends and family can attend their wedding, but understand that due to the current situation, not all will be (physically) present.
