Matthew at the time of meeting Ailyn was completing his MBA at Hope University, balancing an Executive HR role and was also undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. Matthew had recently been diagnosed with Stage 2 brain cancer, and his world had turned upside down but trusted God to pave him the way. Meanwhile, Ailyn had just started her first full-time role right after graduating from UC Irvine. Ailyn's world was consumed by Target as she navigated through her HR career. As ambitious as she is, she was working late on October 19th, 2020, while Matthew was at his parents home finishing up his school assignment. During a long day at work, Janelle, Ailyn's boss at the time, asked her... "are you single?!" Ailyn barely knew Janelle and said yes... ??? Janelle then said, "well, are you dating?!" Janelle at the time knew she had the perfect match for her even though she has not been in contact with Matthew for over a year. Without hesitation, she grabbed her phone and called Matthew. Janelle then very excitedly shouted at Matthew and said, "I need you to meet this girl. She is my new HR and she is going to be the love of your life." After this cupid interaction and Gods timing, this led to Target love. Matthew had been asking God for something or someone special to get him out of this dark time; and soon after Matthew and Ailyn went on their first date on November 2, 2020. They became boyfriend and girlfriend on December 7th, 2020, and got engaged June 26th, 2024.
