Long before we met, Denver was quietly bringing us to the same place—just at very different times. Matt moved to Denver from Indiana in 2017 and quickly made it home. Tim’s path was a bit more winding. After college, he lived in Boston. During COVID, he moved to Colorado Springs—but the city never quite felt right. He returned east for a few months in the summer of 2021, unsure of what was next. Then came a camping trip back in Colorado with friends. Something about that weekend stuck. It reminded him how much he loved the state—and this time, he knew the city for him wasn’t Colorado Springs. It was Denver. Tim moved to Denver in September 2021. Just one month later, Matt and Tim started chatting online. We quickly decided to skip the small talk and meet in person. A simple Friday afternoon happy hour at Barcelona Wine Bar in the RiNo neighborhood was set for October 15, 2021. After living in Denver for only four weeks, Tim walked nervously into the bar for his first date in his new city, not knowing what to expect. From the moment he walked through the door, Matt remembers thinking, “Oh man… he is sexy and completely out of my league.” The attraction was instant—easy and undeniable. One glass of wine turned into a few, and neither of us wanted the date to end. So we didn’t let it. We wandered to a nearby rooftop bar overlooking the Denver skyline. That’s where we had our first kiss. Just like that, our “quick” first date became so much more than either of us expected. It turns out we didn’t just find Denver... we found each other.
