It was Alisha's last year of college at Walla Walla University. Her newly engaged roommate, Paige Rogers (Jansen), started mentioning her fiance, Danny Roger's friend, Matt Anderson. Although both were open to the idea, geography made it difficult to picture a relationship. However, on February 13, 2017, Matt decided to take matters in to his own hands and message Alisha on Instagram (a.k.a. slide into her DMs). After that, Matt and Alisha quickly moved from messages to phone calls, and were finally able to meet in April, while Alisha was on a trip with friends to Portland. Their first date was to get breakfast at Sweet Betty's, a breakfast diner in Gresham, OR. After two more months of calls, some weekend visits to Walla Walla, and a trip to the Washington Coast with friends, the two knew this was becoming more than a friendship, and decided to make it official on June 23, 2017 after they were both in Danny and Paige's wedding. After a summer apart, with Alisha working at Camp Ida-haven, she moved to the Seattle area to start her first job teaching fifth grade, at Kirkland Seventh-day Adventist Elementary School. Although they were still long distance, this made weekend trips to see each other possible and highly looked forward to. The next 18 months were filled with many camping trips, breakfast outings, a spontaneous trip to Colorado, a road trip from North Dakota to Washington, and countless other memories.
Matt drove up to Kirkland, while Alisha was at work, and surprised her when she came home. When she walked in, she saw flower petals on the floor, pictures of them covering the walls, and candles throughout the apartment. Their time together taught them that life apart was no longer an option. As Matt knelt down, he took her shaking hands, and asked her to spend the rest of their lives together.
