Study in Germany they said, it will be fun they said. But then Emily arrived in Bad Mergentheim, 2 hours away from any major city or airport, in the middle of nowhere (the lovely "Taubertal"), a spa-city mostly inhabited by elderly people - and 399 students + Matteo! He volunteered as a tourguide, go-to-guy and translator for the sometimes slightly overwhelmed Floridians. Little did he know (nor did she) that among those lost Floridians was his meant-to-be lifetime companion... With time a close friendship formed between the Germans and Americans and the two protagonists of this wedding realized that they were maybe, just maybe falling for one another (spolier alert: they were!). Yet the exchange was coming to an end. Someone (purposefully?) missed her flight, stayed another week, then left for good... Story Twist: Emily took a big leap of faith, packed up her things and not a year later moved back to Germany indefinitely. And now with the upcoming wedding they start a brandnew chapter of their forever.

2015 tauchte eine kleine Gruppe amerikanischer Austauschstudenten im lieblichen Bad Mergentheim auf. Einer Kurstadt, kaum als Studentenhochburg bekannt. Einige Studenten (u.a. der Bräutigam) nahmen sich ihrer an, zeigten ihnen die (wenigen) Sehenswürdigkeiten und unterstützten bei Sprachbarrieren. Niemand konnte ahnen, dass sich aus dieser Bekanntschaft eine Lovestory entwickeln würde, die weit über einen Sommer hinaus gehen sollte. Man freundete sich an, kam sich näher und schon bald liefen Emily und Matteo Händchen haltend durch Wohnheim und Kurpark. Doch alles hat ein Ende... Zwar verpasste Emily ihren Rückflug (Absicht?) doch dann kehtre sie Deutschland endgültig den Rücken... Plottwist: In Florida entschied sich Emily für eine Fortsetzung des Abenteuer, packte ihr Hab und Gut in 3 Koffer und kehrte zurück - um zu bleiben! Die Achterbahnfahrt ging also weiter und nun folgt das nächste Highlight: es wird geheiratet und damit das nächste Kapitel aufgeschlagen <3
