Maid of Honor
Ashleigh is Tollie's little sister. Growing up, Tollie frequently bribed Ashleigh with candy to clean her room, giving new meaning to the title "Bride's Maid". Ash graduated from the College of William & Mary ('19) where she played Women's Field Hockey, like her big sis, and earned a degree in Finance. Tollie and Ashleigh spent countless hours playing with Polly Pockets, sharing a love for hockey and constantly stealing each other's clothes. Ashleigh lives in Atlanta, with a view of the Atlanta Braves stadium, is a consultant with KPMG and super mom to her rescue dog, Harvey.
Best Man
Matt met Ethan for the first time at the age of four and has since been his mentor, role model and has taught him pretty much everything he knows. Growing up, Ethan's preference was to stay indoors and play on the computer. Matt counteracted these inadequacies by dragging him outside to play sports, which laid the foundation for Ethan's college squash career at Stanford. Ethan is currently a software engineer at Facebook and lives in San Francisco.
Matron of Honor
Lindsay is the older sister of the bride. She and husband, Jack, live in Annandale, Virginia with their two kids including the adorable flower girl, Annaleigh. Lindsay graduated from Virginia Tech, and has lived in Omaha, Austin, and Cambridge, England. She's a foodie who enjoys cooking and earned her sommelier certification in London. Lindsay enjoys travel and has visited 25 countries thus far!
Groomsman
Hobbs is the bride's older brother. He's an avid skateboarder and like his late grandfather, is creative and artistic. He lives in DC with his two cats (Carl and Creature), enjoys soccer, sailing, running, photography and works as a graphic designer for National Geographic (a publication he's subscribed to since he was two years old).
Bridesmaid
Marguerite and Tollie went to middle school, high school and college together, playing with and against each other in sports. They grew up in the same neighborhood and have hosted countless sleepovers with each other over the years. Marguerite is currently in the graduate Nurse Anesthetist program at Old Dominion University. She worked at Vanderbilt Hospital, before moving back to Norfolk where she cared for critical patients in a burn unit at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Marguerite's identical twin is also a bridesmaid!
Groomsman
Max is Tollie's younger brother. He lives in Newport News, Virginia where he attends high school, and is actively involved in the community through frequent volunteer work. Unlike his sister, Tollie, he has a gift for music and plays both the sax and the piano! If you plan to misbehave at the reception, watch out- Max is a brown belt in karate. He also thinks Monty Python is hysterical.
Bridesmaid
If this event has you seeing double, it's because there are two sets of identical twins in the wedding party. Mariah and her sister, Marguerite, are childhood friends of the bride. Mariah lived a few blocks away and hosted Tollie for countless sleepovers. Mariah is currently in the Registered Nurse Anesthetist program at Old Dominion University. While in college, the twins captained UVA's Club Field Hockey team. Recognizing Matt's speed, athleticism, and hand-eye coordination, they recruited him to participate on the team, thus satisfying the coed requirement of league participation. Mariah has worked at both Vanderbilt Hospital and more recently, Sentara Norfolk General, where she spent four years caring for head trauma patients in the ICU.
Groomsman
A fellow Wahoo and Lawn Resident, Bobby was Matt's roommate in NY and moved out to San Francisco at the same time. Bobby excels at getting dinner reservations, planning & coordinating trips, and attempting to turn Matt & Tollie into vegans. Bobby is pursuing scholarly endeavors at the Harvard Business School.
Bridesmaid
Meredith is one of Tollie's oldest childhood friends. They competed on the same swim team and spent countless summer days running around the grounds of Mallory Country Club. Tollie and Meredith also played soccer (Go Blue Whales!) and field hockey together. After graduating from Old Dominion University, Meredith moved from the private sector to the U.S. Army where she and her husband are both officers stationed in the 10th Mountain Division of Fort Drum in Watertown, NY. Lieutenant Frey hits the ground running everyday at 0600 where she oversees 53 soldiers and is a logistics badass.
Groomsman
Matt and Ben became friends in middle school and have remained so ever since. For seven straight weeks, Ben was the third-wheel and chaperone, accompanying Matt and Tollie on their post-graduation Eurotrip, visiting Croatia, Italy, Spain, Greece, England & the Netherlands. After a stint as Founder & CEO of the fast-casual restaurant chain "American Boba", Ben has found his footing as a JD/MBA and at Kirkland Ellis Law Firm in New York City.
Bridesmaid
Sarah is also one of the bride's oldest friends. Along with her twin, Meredith, the trio spent summers on the Mallory County Club swim team, playing soccer and hockey and all were in the same Girl Scout troop. In fact, some believed they were actually triplets. Sarah's first international trip was to Mexico with Tollie for Spring Break (I don't know who convinced our parents to let us go!). Sarah is married to their high school friend, Ryan Hess, lives in Denver, CO and can be found checking out breweries and hiking in the Rockies with her dog, Sirius.
Groomsman
Matt and Ben met in elementary school and grew up playing lacrosse, football and squash together. The two sharpened their entrepreneurial skills working under Jordan Goldberg at Stickk.com during summers. Ben is a graduate of Lafayette College where he served as a Goalkeeper on the Men's Lacrosse team. Ben now works as financier in New York City. Matt and Ben created the annual Will Hauver Memorial Paddle Tennis tournament to commemorate their good friend, Will, who passed away in 2015.
Bridesmaid
Jessie and Tollie went to the same high school and both attended UVA. She is also partially credited for setting up the bride and the groom. Jessie is an avid traveler and spent two years living and working in Thailand (we're so glad she's back)! She recently finished graduate school at the University of Michigan and now lives in Washington, DC, where she uses her big heart in the helping profession.
Groomsman
Every grandmother's dream is to make an intro that actually sticks, so kudos Edie Brown for this one! Zach met Matt and Tollie when they moved out to San Francisco in 2018. Zach and Matt became instant friends through their shared love of the Ravens, pho and outdoor activities. Matt and Tollie agreed early-on that Zach possessed all the foundational attributes to be a perfect couple friend, so when he introduced a beautiful blonde named Kelsey to the group, Matt and Tollie ensured he locked her down and the rest has been history. Together, the four have climbed mountains, trained Zoë (their Black Russian Terrier) to be the next air-bud, and wined and dined their way across the west coast.
Bridesmaid
Celia is a friend of the bride and former UVA Squash teammate of the groom. She is partially credited with setting up the couple. Celia and Tollie studied Economics together at UVA and spent a few weeks after graduation working on a winery in Tuscany, warmly referred to as "the castle". They also shared a house together for two years in DC after graduation. Matt and Tollie still make Celia's Portuguese Soup on a regular basis and the bride's mother still thinks her name is "Celia Later." Celia is an engineer and can be found working in Operations for Uber in DC.
Groomsman
Tyler met Matt first year at UVA when he was looking to diversify his skill-set outside his 96 MPH fastball on the UVA Varsity Baseball team and joined the Virginia Venture Fund. Tyler ended up taking over VVF as President and spent time in NYC with Matt and then San Francisco when he joined Thayer Ventures as an investor. Tyler is constantly trying to convince Matt and Tollie to "go in" on buying a house in Lake Tahoe or a SF fixer-upper in an "up and coming" neighborhood as he believes he can 3X the returns of the S&P500.
Flower Girl
Tollie's niece, our sweet flower girl, was to celebrate her 3rd birthday on our original wedding date. Thanks to the pandemic, she's had an additional year to practice. No worries about performance anxiety, though. Annaleigh has prior experience in this role.
