Kelsey Humphrey

Steven's Best Lady

Hi, I'm Kelsey and I am Steven's Best Lady! Steven and I have known each other since our time at EKU, but he wasn't always a big fan of me. He actually didn't like me at all! He felt I was loud and obnoxious (haha)! It wasn't until we both started working at Norton where we began to get closer and build the friendship we have now. I wouldn't be half the woman I am today, without my friendship with Steven! I am so honored to be apart of this huge milestone in his and Matt's life!

Josh Gogan

Matt's Best Man

Matthew and I met in Belize while on a service trip, hosted by Kent State Athletics. We spent 10 days together in the middle of nowhere, digging trenches, throwing dirt around, and sleeping in the heat. It really wasn’t until the plane ride home that we became best friends bonding over a child relentlessly screaming behind us for hours. Nonetheless, we made it through the plane ride and through many more years being best friends! I am proud to call Matt one of my best friends and am excited to be by his side on his big day!

Steven's Groomsmen

Like others have said in their bios, I met Matt when Steven introduced him over patio drinks. (Note to those reading—this is one way to drink well even with inflation. Find me at the wedding for more tips and tricks.) That same patio has seen many gatherings since: to celebrate, to kiki, to lend a listening ear and weather the pandemic together. Steven and Matt are the type of caring friends who truly are just a text or phone call away. I am so happy to share in this day with them both!

Matt's Groomswoman

Matt and I met when I starting working for the Kent State Athletics Marketing Dept. It took a while for him to warm up to me but after countless athletic events, late nights in 205, grad school assignments, and trying to make Kent State a better place, he realized he couldn’t live without me. Six years later, I know I can count on him for anything and I don’t know what I would do without his endless support, guidance, friendship. I’m so happy Matt and Steven found each other and I feel so blessed to be a part of their next chapter!

RK

Steven's Groomsman

Hi, I am Ranjith (RK). Steven and I met at a drag bar through mutual friends. The first night we met, I rolled up his shorts and asked him to show off those legs and be a hoe! That led him to meeting Matt and falling in love with each other. During the pandemic we lived in the same apartment complex and I became his hairdresser and a close friend! Steven and Matt has become close friends and their easy going nature is what I love when it comes to hanging out with them. I am so happy to be by his side during this wonderful moment in their lives and continue to be an integral part in each other’s lives!

Caitlin Jones

Matt's Groomswoman

Matt and I met as fresh-faced novices in the real estate industry and bonded over our mutual desire to have fun while serving our local community (and also trying to make some bucks). While we have both since moved on to pursue other career interests, our friendship extends far beyond pre-qualification letters and purchase agreements. We no longer go live on Facebook or plan out our next eye-catching tik tok, but our behind-the-scenes friendship is genuine and is my most favorite and treasured takeaway from my previous career. I helped Matt find his house, he helped me find my man, and the rest is history. Let’s buy a freaking house! Or not. The love and respect Matt and Steven have for one another is inspiring and refreshing, and I am excited to continue to watch their love story unfold.

Steven's Groomsman

Many things happened on the 10th of February 2018 , St. Patrick's day parade. I would name them all, but a lot of people would be scared (Rosa's vice) lol! All jokes aside, this was the day that I met Steven at Evan Harmon's place for a little pregame social. We discovered that we had attended EKU around the same time and had mutual friends, but never managed to run into each other. Our friendship really became what it is today because of the pandemic. I was lucky enough to live in the same building as Steven pre-covid. The memories that we created at Riverside were endless. We went from LIVING to lockdown, suddenly. We rode out the toughest parts of the pandemic at Riverside and although things seemed uncertain at times, we still celebrated all the good that life brought us. Steven first introduced Matt to us at one of our classic patio hangouts at Riverside. And what a treat! He fit right in with the rest of us. Can't wait to be a part of your special day.

John (JT) Rhinehart

Matt's Groomsman

met Matthew as an intern in the Kent State Athletic Department during my final year at Kent. Matt went from being the supervisor who signed off on my internship hours to being one of my best friends. We spent many hours together managing basketball and football games, though the most memorable would be games played at the bowling alley, margaritas consumed on pitcher night at Venice Cafe or the many lunch runs to El Dorados for Thursday Strombolis. Matt even bought me a birthday shot and iced me before we had to return to work to finish off the day. Matt also volunteered me to be Flash, which actually ended in a massive debacle. He also made me cry (happy tears) on a very busy night in Water Street Tavern. Even after graduation, moving to different cities and taking new jobs, Matt always managed to provide the same life advice, career advice and the unwavering friendship one looks for in someone.

Steven's Groomsman

Steven and I became fast friends during the pandemic being neighbors and spending many hours on the patio "social-distancing". His humor, quick wit, and laid-back attitude are just a few things that made us close friends. Matt truly brings out the best in Steven and I am excited to be a part of their special day.

Kristina Marino

Matt's Groomswoman

My name is Kristina, also known as Tina, or Baby Flash. I first met Matt at my freshman year tryouts for the Kent State Dance Team. Based on my first few interactions with Matt, I never thought we would have ever become friends. Now I can’t picture my life without him. Matt took me under his wing, and taught me everything I needed to know about everything Kent State. From days spent at Dix Stadium, to nights spent at Water Street, some of my best memories are with Matt. I can’t wait to continue to grow our friendship with Steven by your side! #FlashesForever

Adam Summers

Steven's Groomsman

Всім привіт! My name is Adam. I first met Steven back in 2019 on a random night in October through a good chunk of the groomsmen, and we’ve been friends ever since. We’ve done everything from flooring it on 64 to Natural Bridge, to “Путін Хуйло” shots in the middle of the day. I met Matt a little after he and Steven got together and as a group we’ve celebrated birthdays, holidays, and I was even given the honor of witnessing the signing of their marriage license. Not only am I honored to be friends with Steven and Matt and extremely honored to be a part of their wedding, but I’m also honored to be the reason Steven can’t go to a cookout without there being flank steak and Ukrainian garlic bread! Вам вітаю!

Austin Decker

Matt's Groomsman

I was a young naive southern boy, ignorant to many experiences in life and all alone at Kent State where I knew nobody. After joining the Cheer Team by accident I was introduced to someone who not only fascinated me as a person but would soon become one of my closest friends. I met Matt through my time on the cheer team. Our friendship really began to blossom during our first time at Daytona Beach for Cheer/Dance Nationals where I really got to know him and come to admire how funny and genuine of a person he is. Even after college Matt and I have stayed in touch daily, occasionally have a call or FaceTime to catch up or check in on each other. Every 3-4 months he renounces our friendship temporarily as I attempt to grow any facial hair. If you go through his Twitter feed you can see an on going trend of him canceling me and un-canceling me. Through ups and downs Matt has always been there for me and has been a better friend than I believe I could ever deserve. Being his friend and being able to share this beautiful moment along with him and Steven is something I will cherish and honor for all of my life. I will always have my homo homies back and he knows I pack more than enough heat to take care of anyone who dares disrespect him.

Michael Garrett

Steven's Groomsman

Hello, my name is Michael, and Steven is my little brother. I was 10 when mom brought Steven home from the hospital. I got to help her raise him until I got married and had a child of my own. I'm so proud of all Steven has accomplished and I look forward to see what he and Matt can accomplish together.

Britaniegh Blanchard

Matt's Groomswoman

Matthew and I met straight out of the womb at only 1 day apart. Our dads are cousins, although they act more like thick headed brothers. It’s their close friendship that bridged a brotherly & sisterly bond between Matthew and I. We have been side by side through so many life milestones from grade school clear through college. In fact, Matthew was one of the very first people I told I was pregnant when I first found out my senior year of college. He’s always been a key support system in my life and despite his ability to occasionally annoy me to not avail, I wouldn’t trade him for the world! I love you Matthew!

Evan Harmon

Steven’s Groomsman

I met Steven back in 2017 at a professional association conference (our beloved KHIMA 😊) and we hit it off straight (hehe) away – mainly because we were like the only gay people there. Anyway, when Steven moved to Louisville, I welcomed him and told him that he must meet all my qweenz at the Penthouse on Edward…and the rest is history. Check Miguel’s story for that messy St. Patrick’s Day fiasco. Steven and I have had a lot of great memories and spent a lot of time volunteering and serving on the KHIMA board together – we are professional…sometimes 😊. We also love to share work stories and support one another as we grow in our careers. I’m so proud of what he has accomplished and who has chosen to be in his life. Matt is an excellent match, and I’m beyond blessed to be a part of this day and serve as groomsman!

Del'Shawn Woods

Matt's Groomsman

It was the fall of 2014 when I came in contact with, at the time I was unaware, the person who would be not only my best friend but my brother! Matt and I met my freshman year and 1st year on the KSU cheer team. We knew of each other but didn’t hang out until the gays brought us together. From there, we were attached at the hip. You could not see one of us without the other one being close by. There has been many road trips, breakfast dates, 💩 talking sessions that have gone on throughout the years. And I won’t even bring up the countless nights at the bar that ended with cops or trips to the hospital. The memories that we have made over the years will stay with me forever. I’m honored to have been made a part of another milestone in his life and help celebrate the love between him and Steven!

Ada Nicholson-Burley

Matt's Groomswoman

Hey 👋🏾 my name is Ada, I met Matt through FCA at a game night. The chemistry was just there. From that point on, he has been my literal right hand. I can’t describe all the memories we’ve shared because I’m sure some are illegal. I just know that he’s been there for me through some of the best and worst times of my life. He’s truly one of my best friends.
