Mesta is a medieval castle village in Chios. It's known for its architecture and unique designs on the homes. Would definitely recommend taking some time to walk around the village and then sit down in the square for a drink with some of the locals.
This is another of our favorite beaches on the island. The roads down to the beach can be a windy and narrow, but well worth it. There is a cantina, along with sunbeds and umbrellas available. This is a great family friendly beach to visit either on your way to or from the village of Mesta.
Mavra Volia or Black Rock Beach is one of our favorite beaches on the island! They do have a cantina for food and water, but do not have beach chairs or umbrellas.
Agia Fotia is a nearby beach that has 4 beach bars to choose from. There are umbrellas and sunbeds available on the beach, and it is family friendly.
This is a small beach that used to be a quarry - the water tends to be on the colder side! There is a beach bar, umbrellas and sunbeds available but they do tend to fill up quickly.
Karfas is an all-sand, shallow water beach that is great for kids! There are sunbeds, umbrellas and a few beach bars to choose from.
This is a great restaurant inside the castle, one of our favorites and a must try. It has modern twists on classic Greek food. I would recommend making a reservation. Link to the menu: https://www.vradipus.gr/timokatalogos/
This is a great traditional Greek restaurant in the heart of the castle.
This restaurant is located right on the port and is a great place to try.
This is a great little restaurant tucked inside a cobblestone alley, right off the port.
If you're looking to try authentic gyros - this is the spot. We would recommend ordering it with tomato, onion and tzatziki. Fun fact: Sams dads' photo is on the wall in the shop.
This is our favorite bakery to stop by in the morning for coffee and pastries! You can't go wrong with anything you try. We recommend a freddo espresso for coffee paired with a spanakopita.
If you're looking to try loukoumades (fried dough balls covered in honey), this is the spot to do it. It's located right on the port and has a beautiful view of the harbor.
Another great spot for trying loukoumades - located in the town center.
Another great place to try gyros. It's located right across from the garden in Chios Town Center.
