Step into a prehistoric wonder at Parque da Liberdade Tucked into the heart of Sintra, this botanical garden feels like a hidden rainforest. Its most striking feature? Towering giant tree ferns — some reaching over 15 feet tall — with arching fronds that create a lush, otherworldly canopy. We’d love to wander it with anyone who wants to join!

Lisbon

Lisbon

Lisbon, Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon is just a 40–45 minute train ride from Sintra, making it a perfect option for a quick city adventure. Trains run frequently from Sintra Station to Rossio Station in the heart of Lisbon, and tickets are just a few euros. Once there, you can explore historic neighborhoods like Alfama, ride the iconic yellow trams, enjoy riverside views, or dive into some of the best food in Portugal.

Porto

Porto

Porto, Porto District, Portugal

Porto is about 3 hours away by train from Sintra (with a transfer in Lisbon), making it a great option if you’re extending your stay in Portugal. It’s known for its colorful riverside buildings, port wine cellars, and beautiful tile-covered architecture. Porto has long been Matt's favorite city he has visited. We’re planning to head to Porto for a few days after the wedding, and would love to spend time with anyone else making the trip. Let us know if you’re thinking of going!
