There are so many great brunch options in and around Dallas. For a sit down brunch we recommend Oddfellows, Meddlesome Moth, Petra and the Beast (reservations needed), Meso Maya, Knox Bistro, and Bread Winners.
We love and cherish Houndstooth (multiple locations) for their coffee and friendly environment. We also recommend Halcyon, Ascension, Ralph & Rose, Cultivar, and Sugar & Sage. For excellent photo-ops, check out Funny Library Coffee Shop and La La Land. If you're willing to adventure out of the city, there's a recent boon of Yemeni coffee shops. Try out Arwa in Richardson! Pro-tip: Find your favorite horchata in town and combine it with your favorite espresso for a fantastic latte experience
El Come, La Banqueta, La Ventana, El Trompo, Salsa Verde, Revolver, Resident, Chilangos, Milagro... take a taco tour and report back your favorites! If you're looking for Austin-born institutions, check out Taco Deli and Torchy's. For an ever-changing fusion take on the taco (e.g., chicken tikka masala taco) check out Velvet Taco.
Pecan Lodge, Terry Black's, Slow Bone, Loro, Lockhart Our friend Tobin also recommends: Cattleack BBQ (Addison), Hutchins (McKinney), and Goldee's (Fort Worth) Be prepared for lines and arrive hungry!
If you're hoping to be immersed in cowboy hats and boots, you'll enjoy a trip to the Fort Worth stockyards and rodeo. Within Dallas, you can find dancing and/or mechanical bulls at Gilley's, Neon Cowboy, or Sons of Herrman Hall
If you want to enjoy the Dallas summer outdoors, you may enjoy White Rock Lake, The Katy Trail, and Klyde Warren Park. Restaurants with outdoor spaces include Truck Yard, and Katy Trail Ice House. The Nasher Sculpture Center has outdoor exhibits.
One of our favorite hidden gems, introduced to us by our friend Therese. This is a small outdoor market with a variety of authentic Thai food/dessert. Go early for the most options, be prepared to try new things, and bring cash. Plan to eat picnic-style in the temple's beautiful courtyard. Highly recommend the papaya salad - they make it to order and based on your preferences (maybe opt for low heat).
