Enjoy a beautiful view of Lake Mendota with a scoop or two of locally made Babcock ice cream or a cold beer on the Memorial Union Terrace. This place holds a special place in our hearts. It was our first date! You can't beat dinner and a sunset.
Tucked on the east side of Lake Monona, you can grab a beer, bring some snacks, and have a seat at a picnic table. There are also volleyball courts, basketball courts and a big field, great for frisbee for those looking for an active activity.
In the center of they city, nestled between Lake Monona and Lake Mendota is the state capitol. It's worth a visit not just great because Moriah works there. The views are just as stunning inside the building as they are outside of it.
Normally hosted on the square and a must do when visiting Madison for a weekend in the summer or fall, the farmer's market is open on Saturday mornings at Alliant Energy Center. You will find fresh produce, delicious scones, and a colorful assortment of season flower bouquets (a few of our favorite things to pick up when we go).
One of our favorite activities together is biking downtown or around the lakes. There are multiple rental bikes available around the city that you can hop on and start exploring!
If you're interested in getting out in nature and taking in the fresh air, there are many state and county parks in the areas to explore. Lake Kegonsa is a fun state park that has multiple hiking trails.
