Our story began in the summer of 2017 when we were both interns at Intel. We met during our first week while getting lunch, and to this day Kristin swears Matt introduced himself as Matthew. We quickly realized how much we had in common, a lot of which revolved around our love of Tennis. At this time Matt had taken 3 years off playing but he had his parents ship his old tennis rackets out to Oregon so they could play. Kristin still remembers having to drive Matt home (cause he didn't have a car) after he saved 6+ match points and came away with the win during one of their times playing. As the summer went on, we spent more and more time together and officially started dating by the end of July. After the internship ended, we tackled a year of long distance and made it work. Matt landed a job at Intel a few weeks after graduating and moved to Oregon, finally closing the distance. A short eight years later, he proposed — and the rest is history!
We were planning a visit to Kristin’s parents over Memorial Day weekend when Matt casually suggested a quick lunch stop at Willamette Valley Vineyards. What Kristin didn’t know was that Matt had been working with the vineyard staff to set up a surprise proposal. He even went out a few days beforehand to scope out the perfect spot. The plan went off perfectly, with the only hiccup being Matt accidentally holding the ring box upside down — but thankfully, she still said yes!
